BPV's fail all the time, lose tension in the mechanism, stick, lose full range or reliable actuation... I've had it happen twice on my old roots blown Celica, so I got in the habit of always having a spare on hand.

Whistling noises, lost boost, vac leak or slight boost at idle... anything like that is usually traceable back to a bad bypass not actuating properly.

Glad it turned out to be not too big a deal -- good luck on final numbers :tiphat:

Hotrodz 05-01-2014 07:02 PM

Outstanding news....glad it was a simple fix. Time to let her run she was meant to!

SS_Firehawk 05-02-2014 12:10 PM

So, my butt Dyno says there is an improvement. I'm thinking I need a tune still. When the shop was logging, they were reading 10-10.5AFR, something low. I'm wondering if the ecu adjusted its self, but I haven't seen it get this rich before. I'll do some logging of my own, stupid uprev cable is acting up. I want a replacement. POS. And thanks to everyone helping me go through this automotive hell. I need to update with more pics n vids soon instead of troubleshooting!

What's new buddy? Any progress with your setup?

Nothing new. Finally got her in a garage after nearly a month outside. It's been he'll keeping her clean. I'm putting more miles on cuz I don't have a DD yet. Hoping to get the RRP in in the next few weeks.

I did fine a brand new magma red Nismo in a Scottsdale dealership... If I had the spare change to pick it up. I thought they would all be gone, it's a small ray of hope lol.

SS_Firehawk 05-09-2014 09:11 PM

Woot! Brother bought a 14' Nismo!

octet 05-09-2014 09:22 PM

I need a twin supercharger kit in my life! :D :D

Traded my car in for a brand new magma red Nismo I found... I'm so heart broken, very mixed feelings about this.

octet 05-11-2014 04:31 AM

did you trade it with the TS kit on!?!?!?! I neeed, I WAAAAANT!

Hotrodz 05-11-2014 08:01 AM

Wow...I hope you did not lose your but on the deal. Anyway welcome to the Nismo family. Need to see some pictures.

SS_Firehawk 05-11-2014 08:03 AM

Things got to a point where I spent so much money and only had a pretty engine bay to show for it. I got tired of troubleshooting, needing a retune, shredding belts, getting 14mpg, and never matching the power I paid for. I loved the way she sounded and all the cooling work, but it just kept chipping away at me.

The dealer gave me $33k for the car, I ate about $15,000 total. With the Nismo, I'm going to stay stock for at least a year so I can refocus on more important things in life. This was the very last magma red Nismo in the country just sitting at my doorstep. The salesguys were there till 1am working every last penny. The only option the Nismo didn't have were the kick plates. I bought it for $42,000. In the near future, I save some money, but I still find myself second guessing. Wifey put me on probation with mods, and I can't argue her logic. Things just didn't pan out like I had hoped.

Congrats! Glad GTM didn't run you out of the car game totally.

DEpointfive0 05-11-2014 11:18 AM

Wow... Can't believe you sold it... Then again, I don't think you ever drove it, it sat in a shop getting fixed most of the time...

DEpointfive0 05-11-2014 11:19 AM

Can't wait to see what the dealer has to go through when they need parts from GTM

Dude....

I don't blame you at all. Not in the slightest. I don't blame your wife either lol. My wife would have cut my hand off so I couldnt reach for my wallet after that.

Gotta post pics of the Nismo though! (Could've gone 335i and had a TT platform, or been baller and grabbed a M4 that is now coming stock TT ;))

GTM took a quality hit imo. Should've had everything ironed out before throwing it into a customers car.

gabe3d 05-11-2014 01:55 PM

Sorry to hear about your troubles but I am glad you cut your losses early. Enjoy your new ride!

Thanks for the support guys, I was so stressed out, even when waking up this morning. Reading the responses and talking with tturboz, my brother and catching a girl in her bf's ride recording my bone stock Nismo helps ease my mind.

Now... To find out how I'm going to sell my stock parts. Btw, do u guys think I should install my RRP or sell? I'm reminded again that the stock exhaust sound is sh!t.

Edit: My old car is at Pinnacle Nissan right now.I'm dropping off my spare CAT and uprev cable as well as all my documentation I have on the car. For anyone wanting to buy it, Ask for

SgtGoldy 05-11-2014 03:11 PM

Hang in there man. Yes, the stock exhaust is horrible. The G37 exhaust even sounded better than stock 370z. I'd go FI exhaust since we all know your nismo will be fitted with their TT down the road.

Dont deny it. Admitting it and coming to terms is the first step to your recovery.

Not gonna lie dude, that brought a tear to my eye. You can see how much you loved that car and wanted it to be what it should've been :(

Hotrodz 05-11-2014 04:13 PM

I got tell y'all, I have been living every bit of this with SS. I have had lot of emotion around his situation since our meeting on that ill fated day, but I'm glad that his storm is over. And both those Nismos are hot. I really like the magma and I'm not a fan of red cars generally.

Lol, everything under the hood was a downgrade. A few more pics. FYI, that Meguires crap blows chunks. Worst polish ever. Doesn't like coming off and oily

"Lol, everything under the hood was a downgrade. A few more pics. FYI, that Meguires crap blows chunks. Worst polish ever. Doesn't like coming off and oily"

Perhaps, it depends on how you see it. If you only include the time she drove well and made you grin, then yes this is a downgrade. If you only see the downtime, then this is a definate upgrade being that the car is running like it should and giving you no headache. So with a mixmatch of grins and downtime, it's your call to consider it a upgrade or downgrade.

I'm bias cuz I have a Nismo as well, hence you Upgraded. = ^b

Either ways, I'm sure the both of you are liking the new rides.

I think I'm 100% content with these wheels. The color and design just fit too well. Aaaannnnndddd my Wife would kill me.:icon17:

The dealer didn't properly deliver the car, so I had all day today to pick the thing apart. I have a list going of stuff for them to take care of.

Mr&Mrs 05-12-2014 02:02 AM

I hate seeing good people go through this B.S man. Reminds me of 98intrigue and all of his trouble with bogus shops. The Nismo is killer and each day will get better as you put this nightmare behind you. Cheers brother!

faceglide 05-12-2014 03:25 AM

Magma.....ALL DAMN DAY

God I wish I waited for magma some times. Its an amazing color, has some great pop, is amazing in high sun, dusk, or especially dawn!

The magma Nismo is a real beauty, and pretty rare. IN my area, all we get are greys, blacks and whites.....bleh. Great find my friend. The looks of that thing will make you forget the drop in power real fast.

To new beginnings!

YzGyz 05-12-2014 03:27 AM

Yeah, red is nice but it attacts too many eyes. I don't mind most of them. The ones I do mind roll around with pretty lights.

Mr.Squeeze 05-12-2014 11:37 AM

Sorry about your Loss glad to see you didn't give up on the car game just taking a break from modding.

Your new Magma red Nismo is hot

Jordo! 05-12-2014 03:27 PM

Oh wow -- I'm sorry, man, but it looks like a reasonably happy ending -- congrats on the beautiful new Nismo

Did you remove the SC's or sell it as is (sorry if I missed that in skimming over the last few posts).

I completely understand the excitement and horrors associated with a project car that is also the DD... as the (bad) joke goes, NA really stands for "never again".

I think you'll be really happy with the new ride -- glad it all worked out.

SS_Firehawk 05-12-2014 03:32 PM

I sold to the dealer 100% as is with uprev cable and my spare CAT. I got roughly 33k for it.

Oh wow -- well, not a bad deal.

Be interesting to see what they sell it for and whether they restore it to stock or not...

I sold off my old project SC'd Celica GT-S "as is". The dealership tore off the good tires and ripped out the wideband before selling it off. Jackals.

SS_Firehawk 05-12-2014 04:24 PM

That day I spent 6-7 hours detailing her, so when she showed up, she was looking like a superstar. Every bit of metal under the hood was just polished and bling bling, interior was spotless, hand polished and waxed the paint (went over the body 5x before removing polish). She was sounding all sexy too rolling in. When the salesman rode in it, he was amazed how smooth everything was. I told them up front it's not making the power it should. I didn't even go there to trade her in. I just wanted to see the Damn magma red Nismo and I was smitten.

Orestp 05-13-2014 10:14 PM

Hey Firehawk - we like the cars - we like looking at them, we like working on them - but most of all we, like driving them. My twins are still keeping it together - but if I had the down time you had - yeah, I'd be moving on. Congrats.

SS_Firehawk 05-20-2014 02:04 PM

Well well well, look what I have found.

Black 2011 Nissan 370Z Base for Sale in Scottsdale, Arizona $36,999 16,700 Miles

IMHO, this is a F@cking steal. If someone wants to finish what she needs, this is cheaper than what I would have sold privately.
