Mirrors

Mirrors,:driving:
Okay her it goes. I hate the flat mirrors on our cars. Thats about all I hate, just the mirrors. I didn't want to spend money on a light weight race mirrow, when I already have killer blind spots. So here is what I did:ZOOM Engineering Blue Side View Mirrors - 370Z :bowrofl:

KamiSpeed has some inserts that are concave to give a wider view. So I went for it!!!
Directions, driver side mirror is flat, passenger is a little concave, not much.
http://www.the370z.com/members/nut_n...8-img-0443.jpg

The kit cam with 2 sided tape and two high end pieces of blue ice glass. They are mounted using the 2 sided tape, perfectly shaped, they fit inside the plastic trim holding the stock glass.

This is what I see now with stock mirrors.

2 Sided tape:
http://www.the370z.com/members/nut_n...9-img-0444.jpg

I put some painters tape to hold the glass to position it:

Clean look so far:
http://www.the370z.com/members/nut_n...2-img-0448.jpg

Damn what a difference, I have the mirror adjusted all the way out and i still see the rear for the car.
http://www.the370z.com/members/nut_n...3-img-0452.jpg

Just came back from Kellys and I don't have to break my neck :icon14: looking to see if I'm going to hit anyone before changing lanes. Well spent money, nice look to the car too.:happydance:

Mr&Mrs 09-24-2012 04:26 PM

 I like those much more clean than the spot mirrors we have.

bdavis89 09-24-2012 04:38 PM

Really like the mirrors, but that price :icon14: Doubt I could ever convince the wife..lol

I have been trying to get my wife to drive the car more often. She doesn't want to because of the blind spots. I thought these mirrors would be a hard sell but when I showed her she said get them..

I have been sick in bed since Saturday and she has driven the car every day. As long as she doesn't destroy the front pulling in to far to a space I'm okay with it.
She loves the mirrors, my picture doesn't do justice to them, they really open the field of view. Besides the sway bars I think its a good investment but the price should be lower for 2 pieces of shaped glass.

Huck 09-26-2012 12:50 PM

That looks really good man! I just have my mirrors bugles out enough do that sitting in my normal position, I can barely see the back off my car, and the rest of the mirror shows what would otherwise be my blind spot. It's still annoying though, I still lean forward and check to be sure before I change lanes. These might have to be a purchase later on down the road!

FI.CF.ART Sound

I have had some questions on what my exhaust sounds like so I made these lame vids. First time making videos, using IPhone, not good at this but wanted to post to answer any questions.

I have on the car now ART Test pipes, Fast Intentions Exhaust with 18 inch res, and 12 inch Carbon Fiber cans. I have in a box the FI HF Cats that came with the car. I swapped them for the ART test pipes to bring the sound down to a lower growl. Easier on the ears during long drives.

So here it goes, I'll get better as I figure these out, the last link is the static exhaust sound::icon14:

Quick Update

S&R:
Went to S&R Performance today, met with Bobby. We walked through the shop. Got to take a look at his single turbo kit up close. That's a nice kit !! Talked about some ways to upgrade the Stillen Kit, some hardware, upgraded bypass valve, plugs etc.

The shop is huge lots of high-end cars, stuff everywhere. They are still organizing and getting the place together. Bobby seamed like a strait up guy, eager to help with my Stillen even though I'm installing it myself.

Vortec:
Called Vortec today and asked about the COG setup. Found out some pointers for mounting and aligning the COGs. Tech guys were awesome!!! Using a torch on the pulleys will get them on and off with no issues. I'll use some stainless shims I have from my chopper tranny to get the correct alignment of the COGs. Feel better about doing that.

Talked with Osirus yesterday about his setup and changes he made after running COGs for awhile. I described my bracing plan to asst with alignment of the belt and he said I was right on the mark. Almost the same as what he has. Its good to know people who have proven this works, makes me feel better about boosting my car.

UMA Fenders:
If your in Tampa and you have Body Parts you want painted, Brandon Auto Body off of Palm Drive quoted me 350.00 for both fenders, and 375-400.00 for both fenders blended with the rest of the car. If you want there number PM me. Chase is the the guy you want to see!! Absolute Auto used them for lots of projects, I have seen a lot of there work and it good stuff..
Nue-Finnish Quoted $600.00, I stopped looking around after that.

If I can get my car over there:excited: I'll have them painted and blended before Wiregrass. Then mount them at the car show, that should give people something to watch :)

98intrigue 10-08-2012 07:51 PM

Where in Tampa are you? I live in Clearwater and work about 10 mins from S&R.

Brother,
Are you getting a single side turbo build done? If so I saw your car 2 weeks ago. Up on stands with front end off. If it was your car, they had just finished welding the tubing and started to install it. Will take some pictures with my phone and get an update, going over there around 9..

Sorry man I posted this on your journal.. What custom stuff did you asks for so I can ck on it. He didn't tell me what it was that was custom.
Quote:

Hey brother,
Went yesterday and looked at you car. They have it all torn apart like you said. Bobby said you asked for some custom stuff. Its taking time to build it, he didn't say what it was that was custom. What did you order with the kit? The good thing is there wasn't a lot of cars in the shop, so they will have time to work on it.

While I was there they were tuning a 350Z HR with a single turbo set up. If I remember correctly 6 ponds of boost. 368 Torq/420 HP. They ran it with 8 and got 398 ftlbs tq and 460hp.

Thats a nice set up, I just wish they had a mandrel bender with dies to handle up to 3.5 tubing, it would look way more cleaner... Don't know what yours is looking like yet, still taking shape..

I'll be back down there next week scavenging for hardware so I'll check in on it, Its also not to far out of the way going home....

Update on Sophie

Her parts will mostly be here this week... I picked up the SC yesterday, all the stuff is there and looks well kept. The water cooler is bent but functional.

This has been a blast hiding the project from my wife. Thank you KellyFields for ordering all the parts and having them shipped to your place:tup:. She going to freak when open it up on the way to the beach. I can't wait :stirthepot:.

Trying to think of a color other than Black for the intake, any Ideas.

RED, Gun Metal, White. I'm leaning towards gun metal with glass black support bars.

:hello:

Mr&Mrs 10-23-2012 09:09 PM

Awesome! I cant wait for the three of us to rip the roads. Your wife is going to s*** when you hit that pedal LOL!

+1 for the Gunmetal that will look beautiful with your color car.

Well that was easy, Gun Metal it is... Thanks fellas..

I got my 600cc DW Injectors, Turbo-smart BOV, DW 300 Fuel Pump, Fuel Pump Mounting Kit... Almost there, just need the pulleys, belt and impeller and I'm tearing it all apart..

Question: Can you paint the SC with a Ceramic Paint and not inter fear with cooling. Just curious:wtf2:, it would look nice in a gunmetal ceramic..

Might cause hight temps, don't know. Not that familiar with it..

I don't see a problem painting the SC with a high temp paint. I think it would look great if it matched the rest of your color scheme.

Thanks for the feed back. That air travels so fast through I agree, if it does change the temp it can't be by much..

All the black on the intake will be gunmetal, the SC will be Gunmetal, The intake tubes will be wrapped with Black Exahust Heat Wrap. The stryt brace I'll make red to brake up the color. Also plan on Red Calipers.

Man I can't wait to build this.. :tiphat:
