Well she's back from powdercoat. Can't wait to see it all back together. Here's a sneak peak from the shop owner.

Holy crap you get stuff done fast. I would kill to have local services like you have.

Looking great! Think they can fab another one to ship to me? lol

Wiggins3377 05-22-2014 08:54 PM

If you're serious I can definitely ask.

GaleForce 05-22-2014 08:56 PM

Is it weld in or bolt in? I'm assuming weld in.

Wiggins3377 05-22-2014 08:57 PM

It's actually bolt in. I had to be able to remove panels, etc. so I went this route. They may have had to weld in footers though. I'll find out for sure.

GaleForce 05-22-2014 09:04 PM

Cool let me know.

Wiggins3377 05-23-2014 08:44 AM

The owner of the shop said he would let me know about making these and shipping them out. Would anyone else be interested? If I had to guess it will cost north of $1,000 USD for a raw (unpainted/ powdercoated) cage. They cut me a sponsorship deal since I'm local I also had mine powdercoated which cost me an additional $250 and went into my total cost.

For those who don't follow me on Facebook. Here are a few more shots of the cage. These show how the amuse bar complements the purple.

I had the shop lower the front of my car when they were waiting on the cage to come back from powdercoat. For $50 it saved me the headache of pulling the lower strut mounts and brackets apart again. Although I love doing my own work when I can, I didn't think I would have the time before Offset Kings in Chicago next weekend, plus this weekend will be claybaring, waxing and polishing time. I can still drop the fronts and backs an additional .5" or so, but I didn't want to do anything too crazy before my Works get here. Now I think I need to get some spacers for the front to get a little better fitment.

Damn thats low!

Meulen 05-28-2014 07:17 AM

Don't go too low before heading to Chicago! the roads here are awful for that!!!

Luckily I have the luxury of being able to raise my car, hopefully it won't be a problem.
