Now I need to find some good looking mesh cause I have a huge open mouth in the front of my Z. Then I went to the hatch to get the item and the hatch got stuck, I had to push the button twice to get it open. Next thing you know I've ripped out all the interior plastic on the lid and pulled out that stupid weight, then I put it all back together. Opens fine for now.

One question. Does anyone know how to fix the two little holes on the sides of the mouth where the slats were? I was expecting that to be smooth lol. Now I gotta patch it somehow.

You're a goddamn maniac!:rofl2:

Go to Home Depot and pick up some mesh. I used some on past cars that was intended for screened doors. Just paint it flat black and zip tie it on. :)

lol! Dude I can't just decide I hate something then take a machine to it and saw it off. That type of attitude is expensive haha. On a side note it'll look clean with a nice mesh (black mesh).

On another side note: whats up with the:

do you write that or is it part of your sig?

Huck 07-05-2013 11:11 PM

actually I had an idea, I've seen small office trash cans that were made of this really nice brushed nickel looking metal mesh stuff. I'm trying to find a picture of it right now to show you what I mean...

Huck 07-05-2013 11:13 PM

Boom.

Hahaha yeah I totally understand. That's a bad habit of mine, I get in a mood and I have to go do it. Sometimes I can be really productive when it happens, like when I suddenly decide that the house is entirely too dirty and I go on a cleaning spree, or when I look at my garage and decide I'm gonna rearrange the whole thing. 12 hours later I've thrown most of the stuff away and built shelves and put up slatboard on the walls lol. But then sometimes I'm like "this will be easy, I got this", and halfway through I realize I'm in over my head. I'm the type of person that has to take something apart to see how it's built, and then try to put it back together again.

I've seen a couple DIY's on cutting the slats, and I've been wanting to do it for a while, I've just never gotten around to it. Now I have, and I just need to figure out what to do about those little holes on the side of the mouth, that's gonna bother me if I don't fix it.

The Zdayz thing is my sig. I went to this last one they had two months ago and it was the best time of my life. Some of it is a blur, but I totally enjoyed myself and I'm already planning on next year. If you have the opportunity, you should make it next year. You won't regret it!

Thanks man! I'm gonna figure out if I can find something like this localy (I seem to remember Target having something like this, and I'm sure Office Depot will too) then I'll chop it up and mount it. Pics to follow soon!

I wanted to go but being a Cali guy it was way too far. Maybe if I buy my GT-R and can rent a trailer to tow it (id hate to stick all those miles on)

Hey I totally understand. I put 2700 miles on my Z in 1 week with that trip and I was cringing the whole time. Luckily I don't drive a whole bunch normally, so it all equals out in the end for me.

I should be able to get it to lay flat. I can either take it apart and lay something flat on top of it for a few days to reshape it, or I could just mount it to the grill the way it is, I'll have to look at the back of the mouth to see what mounting options I have.

Anyways, I'm off to bed for now. I'll update tomorrow or sometime soon.

Grab a set on the forum. Thats what I did. I couldn't afford retail on Volks. My wife would kill me to spend that kind of cash on a set of wheels.
