The paint job is almost done but couldn't wait any longer to post up some pics. Wheels and system are on order next week.

Fast & the Furious stripes

370Z JT 01-22-2012 02:00 PM

If you like it then cool!

GaleForce 01-22-2012 02:40 PM

It's nice that they continued the graphics into the door jams.

MJB 01-22-2012 02:53 PM

What front fenders are those? They look like the hot wheels version. Not a fan of the paint scheme but really like those fenders!

*Edit- Took a second look, looks like the entire body kit is Hot Wheels. Wow, fitment doesn't look to bad.

Kingbaby 01-22-2012 03:39 PM

in for pics...

The whole kit is hot wheels. The fitment was insanely horrible until my buddy got ahold of it. 350hrs of body work and the kit fits.

Juruki 01-23-2012 11:42 AM

nice kit! not a fan of flames on any car but if you like it

Yeah sort of looks like the beginning of a FF car, interested to see how it turns out though. SUBD

Ron 01-23-2012 01:15 PM

Wow, fitment was that bad? I remember when Hot Wheels first debut their kit on a Camaro.. :roflpuke2:

Which parts were the worst fitting? I was thinking about taking a chance and buying just the fenders,... but I think I may reconsider if you say it was that horrible.

He had to split the front and rear bumper in two places to resize them to fit the car. Every single piece had three mount holes or points that didn't line up with any of the OEM mounts. He ended up cutting the mounting portions of the sides kirts and fenders and molding them onto the kit. Then to top it all off the duraflex doesn't flex at all and it hairline cracked every time he took a piece on and off for fitment which he had to repair each time. 5 gallons of resin and yards of glass later the kit fit.

Here are the pics of the fender fit.

GaleForce 01-24-2012 11:52 AM

^^^ Holy smokes! That's crazy! Glad he was able to get it to fit for you.

rli2bcz 01-24-2012 11:53 AM

That's a lot of work

A 2 Z 01-24-2012 03:21 PM

Sounds like the Egg Mc Muffin of all builds...

:icon18: but yeah... In for pics of finished product.

pwrhsms 01-26-2012 02:26 PM

He will have it buffed and polished by this weekend. I'll have him take some pics of the car with something other than his blackberry.

The sound system install starts this weekend as well.
Hertz Mille 3 way and the wicked magic box with JL sub with the JBL MS8 Loc.

I am still trying to decide what wheels to get. The more I look through the classifieds and the posted pics the harder it gets.

I definitely give props to my buddy Rob who is doin all the work. This was done part time. He has mad skills just lives in a bad market for car modification.

here is the car back on the ground. Still blackberry pics though. Stereo install in progress now.

MJB 01-29-2012 12:56 PM

I'll say it again, I love those fenders . If the fitment wasn't so horrible I would buy them for my Z. What is the cutout on the front bumper for? License plate?

I like that brownish/gunmetal color you have on the bottom portion of your Z. I think it would have looked better if you painted the entire car that color, not a fan of graphics and stuff. But I'm sure you're happy with it and thats all that matters!

Ron 01-29-2012 01:09 PM

everybody is so nice around here

370ZilverZ 01-29-2012 01:41 PM

Keep the pictures and details of the build coming. Nice work. I had a buddy like yours where I used to live. He worked majic on my cars and treated them like they were his own. Rare finds those guys, but damn do they have passion for their work and the detail show.

It looks a bit different than what I was thinking. I am in Germany and the car is in Idaho so I let my Buddy run with it. His wife works and the paint supply store and he knows what I liked.

When I see it in person i'll make my final judgement. Paint is easy when there is no body work involved so if I need to change it I will probably do a full color swap to some sort of Blue.

yep its for the license plate. its a requirement for my state as well as in Germany.

Kingbaby 01-30-2012 04:59 AM

Mods like the atmosphere to be this way!

I'll be blunt as your oldest or youngest brother. If this is 'it' as in the car's final stages then horrible! On par with the flamed out 350Z or blue blower 350Z on YouTube!

If this isn't the final stage then put my disgust on hold for the end results! A solid color, decent set of coils, and wheel/tire setup the compliments everything for a Z exponently times better than the Z here on these pages!

Good Luck with build man!

TripleBlkZ 01-30-2012 09:53 AM

I would have personally done black to where that gun metal color is, it just doesn't flow with the white well. Might have even gone only black hood the white where it is and rest black IMO 4 colors is too much.

But give you full credit on how creative this job is and as long as you like it.

m4a1mustang 01-30-2012 09:55 AM

My honest opinion is that a perfectly good Z has been ruined.

roplusbee 01-30-2012 12:01 PM

Looks like quality work. I'll give it that..........

Hmm, are you going with any rear add ons or rear bumper for the back? It looks like it sits a little high compared to the rest of the car

TypeOne 01-30-2012 01:31 PM

Holy hotwheels!

here is where the z stands at the moment. I will be shipping it to Germany and then continuing from there.

TheGreatOne 03-13-2012 03:19 PM

Well those higher quality pics + rims help, looks much better

Whats the car scene like in Germany, advanced, behind or the same?

kevr6 03-13-2012 07:04 PM

:wtf2:
Sorry, didn't know someone was in here. Excuse me...

red6spd 03-13-2012 07:14 PM

Looks much better. I'm not a big fan of bodykits and flames but to each his own. Any engine work?

shadoquad 03-13-2012 07:32 PM

That is a completely wild body kit and paint job!

That'll stick out at any car show.
