I think I will have to go with the black beauty since the 280 needs some loving to be in top shape.

Nut_N_Much 11-04-2012 02:31 PM

Thanks for coming over, those guys are a trip.. We have to do that again sometime..:happydance:

Mr&Mrs 11-04-2012 03:52 PM

Hey! I resemble that remark! Had a blast! Thanks again!

kellyefields 11-04-2012 06:40 PM

I did my part as a officer I stood around and made sure the work was done correct. LOL. Next time we will have to bring enought tools that way each person gets a wheel.

detailing fall 2012

So today since I have a couple of weeks before any more car shows I decided to do something about the orange peel I see in my factory paint. granted the car is shiney but I keep looking to get that perfect look. I started out by stripping all of the wax using dawn, followed by a clay bar. then I tried to polish using the 105 course cut.
http://www.the370z.com/members/kelly...3-102-1571.jpg

It did really well for getting any scratches I had but the orange peel is still visiable so I decided to get more agressive with the problem.
:ohsnap1:
http://www.the370z.com/members/kelly...9-102-1567.jpg
http://www.the370z.com/members/kelly...0-102-1568.jpg

so this is what I have ended up with as of now.

http://www.the370z.com/members/kelly...1-102-1569.jpg
http://www.the370z.com/members/kelly...2-102-1570.jpg

so now it the time to use the hexlogic orange cutting pads and the 105 on my cylo polisher to bring back the shine. hopefully it will work. stay tuned for more.

You didn't take a picture of the water you used to wetsand... haha

GaleForce 11-13-2012 01:52 PM

The cyclo is awesome! It will polish up your car with ease! I'm thinking about picking up one of the new Rupes. Not as cool as the Cyclo... But still cool.

Looking forward to seeing your results!

simota1 11-13-2012 02:27 PM

 i know that will work :D

I really like the dual action of the cyclo. it does quick work just a little hard for the tight spots.

Yeah, but you get a flex, PC, or Griots for the tight spots. The Cyclo will make quick work of the large areas (as you know). It's going to look awesome when you get it done

Mr&Mrs 11-27-2012 09:30 AM

Hey Kelly any updates on this? I might want to do it in the future.

kellyefields 11-27-2012 10:35 AM

I am taking my time to make sure I do everything right. I am waiting on some additional polishing pads to put the finishing touches on before I wax.

Mr&Mrs 11-27-2012 10:48 AM

Have you taken photos of the process? I was hoping to see each step.

Rob, the Griot's 6" orbital is on Amazon with a "Cyber Monday" deal starting at 6pm today and ends at 9pm I believe. You may want to keep your eye on it... I am;) (Get it...."eye"? :icon17:)

GaleForce 11-27-2012 11:16 AM

The Griots is a good machine for the hobbyist to the seasoned pro. If you are a pro, you'll need to buy 2, they tend to fail. Griots does have a great warranty for them though.

I sold my Porter Cable once I started using the Griots. Now I have a Rupes Bigfoot coming :woot:

You guys should give Phil at detailersdomain.com a shout. He supports the forum here and has great prices. I'm sure he'll work something out for you guys.

Mr&Mrs 11-27-2012 01:52 PM

any time. we would probably not have to get as agressive as I went with mine but using the polisher and getting that good shine is well worth the effort.

Mr&Mrs 11-29-2012 01:19 PM

I will let you figure that out im a detailing idiot. There are some very minor flaws I thought going this route could fix.
