Great so far, though no one ever seems to want to play. :(

Welcome to the boosted Z life. No one takes the Z car seriously till they get their ass handed to them. :driving:

There have been a good number of American muscle cars who roll up, look for a second but then slow back down...was it something I did? :(

Haha, I understand. I hope we can hear/see more of the kit in action soon!

I hate to beat a dead horse here, but have your impressions on FI's LTH changed since the SC installation? I might have overlooked it, but I wasn't sure if a conclusion was made.

theDreamer 08-03-2010 09:01 AM

On the F.I. long tube headers:
-I am very happy with how things are, we are running around 5.5-6.0PSI and making great numbers (should be on a dyno jet later this week for an accurate run). With the stage 1 SC setup it might be a bit much in terms of flow, since people also seem to want to see 8.0PSI and the top numbers. Though for me that was not the plan, it was to test both items and to build for the future of a larger kit (stage 2 or 3 maybe). Now I have been very happy with the results so far, and if you can look past that we are making less boost you will see we are making good HP/TQ.

LiquidZ 08-03-2010 09:06 AM

Thanks dreamer!

theDreamer 08-03-2010 09:08 AM

With the F.I. exhaust on order I am curios how it will change things versus the Berk.
It will be a bit more free flowing with a straighter design, but will it cause any loss in PSI though?

Given that you have LTH's, any substantial drop in boost pressure has likely already occured.

That is what I figure, a slightly more open exhaust will not alter much other than sound mostly.

RCZ 08-03-2010 10:34 AM

sounds like you know boost is going to drop, but you don't want to believe it? I would think that boost WILL drop even more if you free up the exhaust more. If Sam was right and its a VVEL + free exhaust problem then you should lose power with your exhaust.

BTW, "accurate" is not the right qualifier to use for a dynojet. The Mustang is actually more consistent and yields numbers that are closer to actual power output than the dynojet does. So call them "more comparable" not more accurate.

In terms of accurate, this will be though.
The dyno we originally use has some "problems," as I do not know what exactly I will just say my original dyno full bolt on NA put me well above 320whp on a mustang dyno. While a few weeks earlier on another mustang dyno in town I was putting down 290whp, which is where I should be. I am saying it will be more accurate in the sense of giving a real reading for comparison for Sam to use.

On the the point of more flowing exhaust, boost might go down, it all comes down to who much freer it is compared to the Berk. Also, more flow and boost loss does not equate to power loss as we can see with this build already.

Congrats Dreamer:tup:. What was the final setup that you went with on the exhaust?

theDreamer 08-03-2010 12:29 PM

Fast Intentions 18" Resonators with SS mufflers
Long talks with Tony about the LTH and exhaust setup and we both agree that 18" is the best combo with the LTH, and the SS mufflers is just because I like them.

JB-370z 08-03-2010 12:35 PM

Cant wait to see them and hear them. Im sure it is going to sound great. Your car is really loud already is this going to make it even louder? I hope so! ;)

theDreamer 08-03-2010 12:39 PM

Probably a bit louder, but a more refined sound.

290 is more like it. Yeah the Dynojet you should be more comparable to Sam's numbers...also remember that GTM uses STD numbers. I think you're going to be a few short of advertised judging by your mustang number.

How exactly do you know this: "more flow and boost loss does not equate to power loss as we can see with this build already." How do you know that if you didnt have the headers you wouldn't have made more power? After all, Shumby made a lot more power without the headers than with them. For all you know, you are making less power than you could be.

JB-370z 08-03-2010 12:46 PM

Just saw the video, two thumbs up they sound great and they look great too. When do you get them?

Shumby had a boost leak and was on a time restraint.
Also, from every article I have read on superchargers and long tube headers, better flow will help increase power. Now, we could go back to stock setup and run a full 8PSI and maybe push a few extra HP or TQ, but why when I can run less boost and be more efficient and equal power?

The question is did you get your ride back buddy?!? Houston weather and roads almost forces you to have a diff daily driver. Hope to see the car out and about again! ;)

neveucd 08-03-2010 07:13 PM

Yea I did, this past weekend. And I know I need to get another ride to daily, but I'm not as baller as you guys. Next thing I'll buy is those little socks for the intake filters, that supposedly keep out water.

Maybe it's not worth the gas for those 'American Muscle Cars'

Why is that ? Please explain ? Ah yes, I know, there is 6ft of snow for 8 months of the year.

I have a 99 Ford Taurus SE! for sale, $500. Needs a new head gasket. You interested ?

JB-370z 08-04-2010 03:53 PM

Dreamer: I am glad you did not go with this setup, cause it is yucky!!!! ahahahahaha :roflpuke2:
Who would by that :bowrofl:

neveucd 08-04-2010 04:33 PM

Hahahah You and your turbo car are yucky!!! Beats paying a 1000 more for an HKS that looks and sounds pretty much the same. I had that on my G35, and the quality just wasn't there. Welds all jacked up, and burned tips are soo lame. Then again I can't talk I got a burned bumper from this thing. Lol

Gawd darn hurricanes and floods every other day. And 100+ degree heat. I'd rather play in the snow anyday....I'll bring my dog, she'll be in heaven. :excited:

I think hes getting an EVO X. And if this site wasnt against street racing, i would tell you all how bad i smoked a new STI last night on the freeway. But we dont support street racing so i wont say that. :driving:

Caravanshaka 08-05-2010 09:34 AM

Actually, passed on the EVO and picked up an '08 STI making 290 awhp and 355 awtq

NoSub4Godzila 08-05-2010 09:39 AM

Just checking out the dreamers keypad on his knobby iPad. Not bad. Good news on the sti. Hope you don't have loose fillings.

Oh! very nice. The hatch has grown on me for sure. I think the guy in the theoretical race was stock. Except for some blacked out tail lights, but im pretty sure they only give 5awhp.
