Not yet, going to wait until I've sold my current Z for sure. I may call the guy tomorrow and see if I can stop by and take a look at it Thursday afternoon when I get off (which could be as early as 1300)
|
sad to see it sell, but glad to see you are staying true to the Z heritage :)

GL on the s30. Shorties up 4sale?
|
Depends on what the buyer wants. I still have the stock muffler so it depends on what they ask for. If they want it stock I'll let you know when the shorties come off.

Might have a serious buyer this time for the 370Z. Also went out today and took a look at the 240, it is definitely a project. There is a bit of surface rust, but the only place that is bad is the cowling, which I have already located a replacement for. Myself and a friend looked it over and From what I saw all the usual rust spots weren't bad. It will need some fresh paint, but that's to be expected. Engine will have to have a good going over (perfect excuse to send it out to be rebuilt!). On the plus side, it comes with a few extra odds and ends. Just need to decide what I want to offer him.

... still a little sad about this. Few months ago you had me all inspired to see how much NA could go ... and now you are selling her.
...tons more you can do to a 240 so I get it, just sad to see the 370Z go. |
I'll get another 370 in the future, it's just to expensive to do what I want with it at the moment. I'll be getting the 240 done up all motor on the stock block though. I've already been talking to an engine builder to try to figure out what I'll be spending to get the engine built how I want it. So far it will be much cheaper than what I would be guessing a full build on the 370 engine would be.

May have an update to the thread by the end of the week!:tup: And for those wondering; the 370Z is still here atm.

So I was planning on picking up the 240 today, but due to one thing after the other going wrong this evening, it was an excerise of frustration. I plan on picking it up tomorrow morning pending everything going smoothly. I'll take some pics and get them posted up once i do pick it up.

Nice skeeter, can't wait to see it! And your keeping the 370?
|
I'll be keeping it until it gets sold. I gotta free up funds for my project and the Z is easily the biggest consumer of my money. I figure I'm spending close to $800-900 each month depending on how much gas I use.
|
Yes it adds up. 370z should open up lots of funds. How much you trying to get for it, if you don't mind me asking?
|
ASking 27k, but I'm willing to go a little lower

Let the project 240Z begin!

Looked at it some more and finally found the tag in the engine bay with the engine serial number during lunch. It's a "numbers matching" 240

Wow very nice! A piece of history right there.

Well finally started work on the 240 last night. Waited until dark so i didn't have to work in the heat, but that brings up issues of being able to see. Yesterday I pulled the rear plastic louvre off and was hoping to install a NIB Interpart LiftLouvre, but the mounting tabs on the old louvre have foiled me so far. I managed to get one off but that is it. Tonight, I pulled the spark plugs and put a bit of ATF in each cylinder, tomorrow I'll put in a little more. Then on Wednesday I hope to get the car turned over by hand (w/o plugs installed of course). If it turns over i will be putting some more ATF in them and let it sit some more. Assuming all goes well, I'll be able to turn it over on the starter by the weekend. I think I'll be pulling the carbs off tomorrow and start cleaning them up. I have a ways to go before getting it started, but I'm shooting for the middle of next month to have it starting and idling. Once that is done I need to address other things like the brakes and tires before driving it. Here are a few quick pics i grabbed at lunch and last night.

Keep us updated on the 240z build, I need inspiration to finish mine haha.

Got the carbs pulled off the car today. Here are a few pics from my cell phone, Camera battery was dead.

Haven't had much time to work on it lately but since the last update I have pulled the radiator. Then on monday during the 15-20 minutes i had to mess with it, I was able to turn the engine over by hand. Now I just need to get the fuel drained, run new fuel lines in the engine bay (the original rubber lines are dry rotted), new plugs, new battery, and fresh fluids. I'll probably also clean the points on the distributor as well. I'm considering going with the Braille B129. I feel pretty confident that the battery will have the cranking amps needed and once I'm done with building the car it will be more than capable of the electrical load placed on it. Probably won't see any updates for a couple weeks due to a family emergency, but once I'm back I hope to have it running pretty shortly after.

Thanks for the carb diagram, I might need that.
