In that case I'll hold off so that I can get the adjustable links at the same time.

First mods have been ordered! Ordered the Z1 post-MAF silicone hoses w/ K&N Drop-ins as well as the AAM Axle back exhaust.

Tint came out good.

I can't wait until I get a 370 early next year.

Apoc370z 11-19-2011 07:46 PM

Are you gonna get a back up camera soon? i will be a pain to reverse your car at night with 5% tint

Skeeterbop 11-19-2011 08:52 PM

No plans atm. I rarely use my rear view mirror for anything. When I back into a spot I adjust the side mirrors down and in so i don't need the rear view. Then when I get in to leave I move them back.

lochness 11-19-2011 10:40 PM

looking good.

Skeeterbop 11-21-2011 05:42 PM

Got tracking numbers for my first mods today :D
Might be getting that Stillen front splitter when it is on special.

Skeeterbop 11-21-2011 07:36 PM

Also got a response from Nengun Performance about the Craft Square mirrors. They wanted to clarify what it was I wanted, so I responded with the info they requested. Also included a screenshot of the item from craftsquare.co.jp and hopefully will know more soon. Speed Element hasn't returned a pm or email and neither has Endless USA (US supplier for Craft Square). So right now it looks like Nengun will get my money provided it isn't to much more than what Speed Element had posted.

Skeeterbop 11-22-2011 10:22 PM

So an update, Nengun Performance has yet to respond to my reply. But Speed Element did return my email, so I think I may be getting the mirrors early next year, but probably won't have them till late spring early summer due to the time it takes (they said 90-120 days). I'm also crossing my fingers that I might get one of my two packages tomorrow. I didn't realize UPS doesn't deliver the day after Thanksgiving and it looks like it won't be delivered until Monday. The other package is being sent by fedex and was last seen in Hawkins, TX so I'm hoping it might get here tomorrow. If it doesn't it will be here on Friday :D

Skeeterbop 11-24-2011 01:36 AM

First plastidip project and I must say I'm happy with the results. I'll get installed pics tomorrow

SPOHN 11-24-2011 07:51 AM

Nice job. I defianlty need to do this next. I'm about to get a bunch of platidip

Skeeterbop 11-24-2011 08:19 AM

One of the guys in the Z club here bought 10 cans of the stuff so he could try painting the whole car! lol I managed to find the one can in town that he missed :D I must say though, getting the results I wanted was a bit time consuming.DIY incoming

Skeeterbop 11-24-2011 08:27 AM

Here is the DIY for getting your side markers done like i have mine.
Step 1: Remove the side markers from the car. (Dallaz has a good diagram of how to do this in his build thread.)

Step 2: Mask off the area you don't want plastidip on. This is the most time consuming part of the whole process since the results are directly affected by the quality of your masking job.

Step 3: Spray on the plastidip. I did a real nice and thick coat.

Step 4: Peel off the tape immediately!! If you let it dry before peeling it will stretch and gives the edges a really crappy look. Once the tape is peeled off let it dry for about 20-30 minutes.

Step 5: Repeat steps 2-4 until you are happy with it. Remember if you don't like it, you can simply peel it off.

SPOHN 11-24-2011 08:30 AM

Step 4 seems to be the ticket

Skeeterbop 11-24-2011 09:40 AM

Yeah, it really is. I initially tried spraying it then using an exacto knife to cut it out how i wanted, but it didn't give as straight an edge as I wanted. The second try I masked it and let it dry, this gave me the problem I already mentioned. The third time is when I pulled it off while still wet, unlike paint you don't have to worry about it running down the area you had masked off.

bernardio 11-24-2011 01:59 PM

Loving the tint job! Looking forward to seeing your z with all the new parts you have on order!

Skeeterbop 11-25-2011 06:34 PM

Got the intakes from Z1 today. I'll have pics of eveything later.

shadoquad 11-25-2011 06:48 PM

Skeeter, a word of caution.

If you get the Stillen front splitter, you may want to get better screws than what they package. According to a few Z owners here, the default installation screws are cheap, causing the lip to come off at high speeds.

So a trip to Home Depot and a pocket full of change, and you should be all good with regular screws.

Got pics of the plastidipped sidemarkers on the car?

Yes I do! Just need to get home so I can start uploading pictures.

ZForce 11-25-2011 10:42 PM

Nice job skeeter on the side markers (blinkers) I will have to add this to my list. An inexpensive mod, something I need after spending a wad today with Z1.

Good black Friday prices today from Z1. I picked up an oil cooler.

EDIT...just read you picked up the silicone MAF intake hoses and drop in filters.

Skeeterbop 11-25-2011 11:04 PM

I just did drop-ins and post MAF tubes for the intake. Thanks for the info Shado, question for you. Should i drill a small pilot hole for the screws or just screw them in and let the screw do all the work? I'm thinkg of doing a small pilot hole that is just a bit smaller than the inside diameter of the thread. As far as additional screws, i was thinking of getting some screws similar to what stillen includes and then get 4 bolts with washers and nuts. This way i can make certain that it would take something pretty big to rip off the lip/splitter.

shadoquad 11-25-2011 11:20 PM

You may wanna search the forum, but I think you can get away with just buying the same screws, only better quality.

Skeeterbop 11-26-2011 01:04 AM

I did some searching and it wasn't easy, but i think I'm going to augment it with some extra screws of similar style and back those up with a few bolts nuts and washer to really lock it in.

Skeeterbop 11-26-2011 01:34 AM

Ok here are the pics as promised!
The post MAF tubes that I installed today, I removed the metal adapter things after the pic was taken when i realized they weren't needed.

How it looked after the install. I love how it maintains an OEM look (minus the Z1 logo giving it away)

And my plasti dipped side markers

Thanks for the info on the MAF/filter. Nice photo.

AAM short tails came in the today

bernardio 11-29-2011 09:02 PM

Nice! So how do you like the new intake setup?

LakeShow 11-29-2011 09:15 PM

AAM shorties are going to make you cut the muffler right?

I honestly didn't notice a night and day difference. It doesn't sound any louder imo, but with my go pro mounted on the front bumper, i could hear the intake at lower speeds on video.

I'll just remove it completely, no cutting needed  If it is too loud i can always put the original muffler back on. But I doubt i will be bothered by it. I'm also going to get the tripod adapter for the gopro and try doing a time lapse video of the removal and installation

haitech 11-29-2011 11:58 PM

I believe the shorties won't be too loud. If not you can sell them to me

Skeeterbop 11-30-2011 10:15 PM

Pic of the AAM short tails before I get them installed, hoping to get it done tomorrow.

Here are some pics for you Skeeter.

Your car looks darker than Gun Metallic for some reason. Maybe the lighting. What are those lines going across the pictures?

Skeeterbop 12-01-2011 10:26 PM

If your referring to ZScr3am's car, it is because his is PG which i think is slightly darker than our Gun Metallic which replaced it.
