Powder Coated Parts/ Plasti-Dip Front end

Here's pics from having my intakes and strut bar powder coated in wrinkle red finish. Big thanks to Mike (thepowderpowder.com). I highly recommend him for all your powder coated needs. Great work.

Also I took some time to plati-dip my middle section on my front clip. Really adds great contrast to my car. Going to do my door handles and rear section around the exhaust are next. Also I installed removed the OEM platic grill section and installed some mesh. I really like this look also. Can't wait. Comments welcomed.

Looks great SPOHN. Fang are came out real nice w the Plasti Dip and mesh. Kinda inspires me to cut that grill out.

SPOHN 12-17-2011 11:37 AM

It does look nice. I had to cut a hole in the mesh for the tow hook which I had powder coated also. I'm also going to paint the anchor point for the tow hook. Didn't really think about at the moment. The silver stands out a little.

Id like to see pics w the tow hook. Its red I take it?

How is the vinyl coming along?

wstar 12-17-2011 12:26 PM

Awesome updates. Got more details on the mesh itself and the install/fastening process? Is it removable? I'm highly likely to copycat the mesh part :).

nice!

I've talked to someone the other week. He's going to do it. Just trying to find a free day.

I bought the mesh from Lowe's. Big sheet that I cut down. So I have plenty to spare for the future. Here's some pics of how I fastened it to the bumper. I use the clips that already on the botton. Just folded the mesh in a "L" shape and pushed the clips in over the mesh. Kind of hard to do but it works fine. Then when you put the screw in to hold the under panel shroud it holds it all in place. You also want to massage the mesh in place for the bumper has a slight curve to it.

As far as the top portion goes I just folded it over the inner lip and punched small holes in the corner and fastened it down wit small zip ties. Plus when you put it all back together the foam behind the bumper hold it in place also.

Excellent job. Looks great. Love the wrinkle red, especially on the intakes. I have a spare bumper laying around, Im tempted to go buy some mesh and hack it up. Again, great job:tup:

Big thanks man.

grill looks awesome SPOHN...notice any performance advantage as far as cooling/better air flow?

SPOHN 12-17-2011 07:52 PM

Yea I don't think there's any advantage to be had. Really no extra flow coming in that wasn't already there.

wstar 12-18-2011 12:48 AM

Mostly I just think it looks better, and it might stop or slow down a few more large flying objects than the stock grill does. Having been nailed by a few chunks of rubber on the track already, and seen little dings in my oil cooler from tiny highway rocks, I'm starting to get concerned about large impacts to the oil cooler slipping through the stock grill.

SPOHN 12-18-2011 09:13 AM

Good thing I run a oil cooler block plate year round besides the track. But having that plate there also protects the cooler.
