1) Out of those intakes, the Injen is by far and away the best choice. I personally have the Stillen G3 intakes but the Stillen and Injen intakes are the best for this car in terms of power gain by a good margin. 2) I would get Berk High Flow Cats because you get less rasp in the exhaust, the car's exhaust doesn't stink, and you aren't losing much power over test pipes. Also, you have less chance of throwing a check engine light with the cats. Plus, it is better for the environment in terms of emissions. 3) You cannot fit a Y pipe unless you get a completely new cat-back system. The stock catalytic converters are the most restrictive part of the stock exhaust system so those make a huge difference if you go for high flow cats. |
thanks for you feedback, any idea why people ask if ecu was reset after mods, and how is it done///does it help?reason a'm asking is in my town there is no tunning shop,so if i just reset ecu would i gain anything at all after mods? here's my nismo// thanks //http://www.westtexasnissan.com/AP/20...D/10495149.jpg

All you do to reset the ECU is take off the Negative cable on your battery for 5-10 min and then re connect start the car and let it idle for a few min and then take it for a spin. Yes it will help it correct the A/F ratio and adjust for the new parts you put on Intake/Exhaust DAN |
Here is the method I use to reset the ECU without disconnecting the battery:
Read the process a few times before you try to do this its ALL ABOUT TIMING: 1) With the key in your pocket/car, push the Engine Start button TWICE (so the car is fully on, but not started) 2) Within three seconds of the car "ON" (again NOT started), Floor (all the way down) and Release the gas pedal fully 5 times within 5 seconds. Do not do this too fast.. 1..2..3..4..5 3) Wait 7 seconds then floor the gas pedal and hold for 10 seconds. After that 10 seconds the Check Engine Light will start to blink slowly. 4) Release the pedal and floor it down once again and hold for 10 seconds. After these 10 seconds the check engine light will disappear then begin to flash much more rapidly. After you have done the following turn the car off and then back on. The ECU is now reset!! |
Sport Package Spoiler
I finally grabbed a S/P spoiler for dirt cheap, I cannot be happier with the deal I snagged. I want to paint it satin black since I love the way that particular look works on Triple's brilliant silver Z but I am up in the air now since I could polish it to perfection and sell it to cover the cost of a carbon fiber version: what do you guys/gals think I should do? (Carbon fiber or satin black)

huh? so...you'd work on it, then sell it off to buy a carbon fiber version of a sport spoiler?
unless you plan on putting more CF accents, a CF sport spoiler is pointless imo |
Great thread Chris. Really like your mods!
I think the CF spoiler is the way to go, but agree with Phelan, you should have some other hints of CF to make it complete. |

I just don't know which one I should do at the moment, that's the issue! Quote:

I say go for cf. I've never seen a black spoiler on a pg, but i'd think there wouldn't be enough color contrast to pull off a black spoiler like you can with a silver. I feel the texture of the cf weave coupled to the fang cover will look much better executed. Just my $0.02 tho.

How are ya by the way? |
hahah i'm good man. counting the days til i can pick up another z. probably a used one this time and maybe a 7at. dude, the thing is....if you don't go with cf parts rite now due to cost issues, you're gonna eventually do it over later with cf which will cost more in the long run. thas what i noticed atleast with me...so i always try to do things right the first time.

Or I could sell it outright and put that money towards revamping the brakes.... Too many choices, I am inclined to go for the brakes as I have always been more of a performance guy before adding pretty stuff anyway. :)
That is great to hear you are doing well, it is definitely a bummer that you are on the opposite coast now. How long do you think you will be in the Northeast? |
Cars looking sharp!

Thanks Super! My Swift springs came in today, but the lady who works in the school mail room was not happy about the 40 pound box... Then again, neither was I since I had to carry it half a mile to my dorm haha. The springs look great and were well wrapped, the powder coating was even and unblemished and in general they have a much higher quality feel/look than the Koni springs I had for my Saab.
Install is slated for December 8th so I will update when that happens, I am also going to try and get away with the factory camber adjustment range. http://i648.photobucket.com/albums/u...1-17102827.jpg http://i648.photobucket.com/albums/u...1-17104200.jpg http://i648.photobucket.com/albums/u...1-17104220.jpg |
