Is there any rasp to it? It's a little difficult to tell from the video. (It sounds like there might be, but it might be that the phone's mic just distorted some of it because it was loud.)

Great quality video by the way! What kind of phone?

Thanks for the comment! It is stock muffler and headers with the HFCs and the Y pipe. There is not a lot of rasp at all, it is essentially has the stock exhaust tone but amplified in volume by 2-3 times. The Y pipe did deepen the tone slight as well. The sound was slightly distorted but that actually sounds very similar to how it is in real life to be honest!

It is a Samsung Vibrant by the way, I absolutely love it so far. My car mount got here so I am going to test out how well suited this phone is for capturing video while driving!

Thank you Lee, I am working on my full brake upgrade right now so it is really just coming together piece by piece!

My hats off to you, on everything you have done so far, you are doing it good and doing right I absolutely love your set up, and it's funny I never would have thought of powder coating the intakes, here in Hawaii it's a real PiA to get a safety without recon permits for our cars to be modified. So I thank you for this awesomeness you have displayed and I am stealing you idea and powder coating mines... When I get them :)

Awesome! I was pretty sure that was the setup but I wanted to make sure. I actually like the stock exhaust note, but would like it a little louder, which is exactly what you've been able to do! HFC's and a Y-Pipe have been on my list of things to get, and now I'm confident about getting them ;)

Nice phone by the way. The video quality is great :) Enjoy your car mount, and post some vids if they turn out!

First Edited Video

I decided to do a drive around Malibu to show how my current setup sounds and performs since I have recieved questions about it recently. Sorry about all the sitting in traffic, I did some editing but I think it shows what the car sounds like in almost every type of driving condition. I still need to work on my phone mount though!

I do want to point out that my 1-2 shift was not the clutch slipping, but the joys of my open differential allowed one wheel to spin freely!

You're welcome, I'm glad I could help since I always appreciate being able to gather as much information as possible before making purchases or upgrades myself.

It definately gets up there in volume above 3,000 rpm, but everything below is almost like stock. It is about as loud as a FI headers/CBE car I hear when revving which I was surprised at personally.

That said, I would like a nice Tanabe y pipe back exhaust at some point. :)

Thanks Lee, I will try to do some windows up runs since the wind definately distorted the mic a good amount! Is there a way to stop that by applying something over the mic?

christian370z 11-04-2010 01:39 AM

I just ordered sport package spoiler today, I ultimately would like to pair it with a Mines carbon add-on. I will be ordering the factory chin spoiler shortly as well.

I have one of these for my actual video camera (TheWindCutter.com, Professional Microphone Windscreens) and it works great, but I don't think it would work too well for a cell phone, haha.

I will have to check that out, I guess I have one thing to do tonight after studying!

I noticed the 370z and 350z Tanabe ypipe has the exact same part number. Interesting how the dimensions are all the same. Nice that Nissan decided to make the exhaust path this way.Makes it easier for people to buy if their looking for used I guess. Tanabe Ypipe T50063

very good read. I shall subscribe

I wouldn't be surprised if that part fits the later HR engined 350z; I am not an expert so I might have that wrong but certain parts are interchangeable or very similar between the 350 and 370z.
