Exhaust Update
I have decided not to ruin the Injen exhaust by modifying it after all. This weekend, I went home and reinstalled the OEM cats and the drone was GONE. Same sound, slightly lower in volume, but it sounded amazing and most importantly no drone.
But I don't want to take the performance hit of the OEM cats so I put my Berks back on and today struck a deal for a full MXP cat-back exhaust. I will be putting the Injen exhaust up for sale and will be picking up the MXP exhaust this weekend and installing it same day probably lol. I also sold my Tanabe Y pipe, thanks Aaron! |
Have you heard the MXP?
Loud ain't it? |

I'm still not 100%, but if I were to list my two favorite exhausts I would have to say Ark or Berk. I need to check out if any vendors still have a good deal on the Ark but the Berks are probably too much for what I am willing to spend on an exhaust right now.

F.I. Exhaust
Hey there,
I am happy to say I am now part of the Fast Intentions club! Yesterday, I drove down to LA to pick up a 12" resonated FI exhaust from fellow socal member Juruki and then drove over to Amplified Motorsports to get it installed. Lou was awesome even though Super Red Z and myself had to scour LA to find 8 new exhaust gaskets and bolts haha. Amplified did a great job and I am happy to finally see their place and how they do business after hearing so many great things from some other 370z members. The exhaust fitment is perfect, although I might hang the tips a bit lower in the future with some washers on the exhaust hangers but other than that, both tips are perfectly centered and look very classy after I spent 15 minutes polishing them today (still need some more work). Sound: I was familiar with FI as many Socal Z owners are running that exhaust with stock/HFCs and even LTHs so I knew what to expect. I am extremely happy with the way it sounds: the volume is perfect, there is little to no rasp, and it has a burly tone that makes the engine sound larger than it is. One notable observation is that the VQ hiss is very noticeable on the FI exhaust, especially in comparison to the Injen which had almost none. I'm not the biggest fan of that attribute but it is a worthy trade off for such a great sounding exhaust. Performance: I hope to dyno the car soon to document any additional power with the FI CBE installed versus the Tanabe Y pipe and stock cat-back setup I ran previously. I am hoping to crest 320 rwhp so we shall see! Here is a quick video clip of a cold start along with a few small throttle blips. Pictures follow the video below, thanks for looking! http://i648.photobucket.com/albums/u...1_1507copy.jpg http://i648.photobucket.com/albums/u...0_1506copy.jpg http://i648.photobucket.com/albums/u...3_1509copy.jpg http://i648.photobucket.com/albums/u...2_1508copy.jpg http://i648.photobucket.com/albums/u...5_1511copy.jpg |
