Here you go buddy. Is this brighter that what you see when you turn them on? Raining now so I had to stop the soda blasting.

Mr&Mrs 09-14-2013 05:57 PM

Seems to be brighter but the lens could reduce the effect some I guess. Are you still doing what we talked about on the phone? I wanted to leak the info in the thread about the first ever (as far as I know) dual __________.

Baer383 09-14-2013 08:37 PM

If you use easy off oven cleaner (with the yellow top) to remove the chrome you won't have that problem.

He got a soda blaster to try out. If you use that oven cleaner do you then have to worry about getting all of that residue off as well? What is the best way to clean the clear lens on the inside same stuff? Or will it etch it?

Just spray it on keep it covered ,1 can is good for both lights I forget the time check the can I think it is about 20-30 minutes then just wash them off and they should be clear with a yellow haze then prep for paint no primer some adhesion promoter would be a good idea.

As far as the outer clear lens windex a clean rag ,compressed air to remove any lint and a flash light to look thru the plastic lens to ck how clear it is.

Ok, so no primer but a plastic adhesion promoter. Thanks man!

You can prime it if you want but it is not absolutely necessary ,the adhesion promoter is important b/c the easy off opens the pores and will expose raw plastic.

Mr&Mrs 09-15-2013 03:45 PM

Little teaser.....I think this is the first time this has been done on a 370z maybe not. It is awesome none the less. Already had Demon Eyes now its going to be dual Demon Eyes!

The factory base coat is a clear paint with blue tent and metallic fakes. You have to prim or it will show through to the plastic. Soda blaster is getting thought the thick clear coat i put on, don't want to use chemicals. If the shrouds get F'ed up I have to buy new light. Weird thing is its just that one light.

Should have them all stripped by Sat & ready for paint.

Will use the chemical on a fresh set of lights, good idea.. Thanks boss.

Relax brother everyone thinks what they know is best. Nothing wrong with that either. We are all proud of what we do, how we do it, and the path that got us there.

I think this is just a misunderstanding anyway. He is trying to remove all the old paint and there is a lot of it. He plans on trying your method on a new set of lights not some that have been done multiple times already like mine. We have been talking in PM's also he likes your method.

I have learned a lot from your posts Baer dont be stingy :p Also dont freak out if people disagree its human nature.

Holy crap, tell someone thank you and they are right and they **** all over you! Rob your translation was spot on, I had too much clear coat on these lights. I did use oven cleaner to get the clear coat off and soda blasted to get the primer and base off. They are almost ready, spent today sanding smooth. I need smooth out the dimples tomorrow and should have them painted by tomorrow night. Anyways here is an updated pic:

I didnt want to try and hold the front end together without the lights so I didnt take it back yet. Once I get the lights in I will be dropping it off. Not in a hurry though I blew money left and right last month. Still need the clutch put in too. I was hoping you and Kelly may want to do that for me if all goes well with his.

I am getting crown moulding put in the entire down stairs plus staircase and loft area, finshed off ordering furniture, and got a quote for a PVC fence the wife wants (so I will be doing that too). My god I could build my motor and upgrade turbos to .86 with all that money. Oh well got to do things for her too. Plus I want to start having parties in the new crib :happydance:

I know modding your lights and painting the housing one color and the shrouds another in various combos is nice, BUT I have always thought it was kind of plain and too easy. These are now a step up.

What sucks is after staring at these photos I have a bunch of ideas of color combos and where to break the colors and combine them.

Joe we need to talk! Lets use my extra light and make some demos for these guys to see. I am pretty good with colors after all I picked all of the wild colors in our house, they came out great.

Nut_N_Much 10-03-2013 06:28 PM

Whats wrong with easy one color shrouds . I like easy man !!!Just kidding, sounds good man, lets do it. Fresh lights are easy, striping them is PITA's. I will never do it ever, ever, ever again.. :tiphat: But the lights do look nice with the black..

Mr&Mrs 10-14-2013 12:25 PM

Guys how much do you think I can get for my current wheels with no tires? My mod money is slim right now due to house projects. I cant take seeing the group buy price from Kamispeed on the Weds Sports. If I can get around 1k for my wheels with no tires or TPMS im going to order these wheels.

Edit: Current wheels are F14's 19x9.5F 19x11R in silver (close to stock color).

http://i850.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps6b09170f.gif

speedfreek 10-14-2013 01:01 PM

Seeing as I just got a set. 1k is a killer deal for these wheels. I would think $1200 is a good asking price. I would want at least $1600 for mine if I were to sell but I also added custom color. I also love the Weds it just kills me to pay that much for them and still need spacers for the rear.

Meulen 10-14-2013 01:16 PM

Don't think you'll have trouble at all getting $1000 for them. Are those the Super deep concave rear wheels?

Yes super deeps. Now I just need two more people to want a set. I am the only person that has sent him a PM. I couldn't remember what I payed for mine I think 1200.00 would be a fair price for perfect wheels, no wait time.

Nut_N_Much 10-14-2013 05:03 PM

Hey Rob, give me 2 days, I think I can buy them off you for $1000.00 w/no tires. :tiphat:, they want $1850.00 for 20's. I'm thinking of going back to 19's so give me 2 days.

Tnx
