Started modding my PW 370z

Whats up guys, so I broke my car in recently and started to do some small mods.

Car Bought on 05/01/2010. Did a full interior LED swap from ugly yellow halogens to Cool White LED bulbs.

My next mod was the Berk HFCs to pair with the OEM Nismo Exhaust I bought from a fellow NY forum member, craniac.

I stopped by Vinny Ten Racing on Friday to install the exhaust parts. VTR just moved to a new space and the shop was huge, not to mention all the workers were awesome and overall probably the best shop experience I had since I started driving. Plus I felt right at home surrounded by G's and Z's everywhere.

Nismo Exhaust:

Exhaust installed:

Sound Clip. I shot this with my Moto Droid so sound isn't best and I noticed the exhaust has gotten a little deeper since the installation:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=<object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/blSsMoB4pBc&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/blSsMoB4pBc&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>

My next mod was getting rid of the front plate bracket, I ordered the Stillen front bracket and to cover the nasty license plate holes, I bought the Carbon Fiber Upper Trim piece from the the zstore.

No plate:

The Carbon Fiber trim:

Stillen front Plate mounted (by the way I got the wrong Z plate frame, got the 350Z Z logo instead of 370Z, trying to exchange it :\ )

Next up is an intake, I noticed the exhaust isnt as audible at higher RPMs, where the intake's growl would come in nicely. Until then...

She Looks Marvelous, and the exhaust looks good.
keep us posted as you progress.

 looks good

370Z JT 06-13-2010 01:48 PM

how would you rate the CF front plate cover? both on quality and fitment? held on by tape?

fitment is good, I had no trouble putting it on. the quality is alright too. my only complaint is the site said it comes with preinstalled double sided tape, which it did not, so I had to put my own tape on.

update on a few mods I've done recently:

added Takeda intakes :

and tinted my taillights yesterday:

next mod should be springs and spacers :) just need to save some money for those.

Crayzitalian3 07-18-2010 02:25 AM

nice job on the Z man. how do you like it compared to the Altima Coupe you previously owned? (I'm on NICO btw just in case you thought I was stalking you or something lol)

hehe thanks, yeah i remember you. i love the Z, no regrets, and its a beast compared to the altima.

Crayzitalian3 07-18-2010 11:24 AM

lol your welcome bro. I am saving up for one and hopefully getting it by the end of next year. My only concern is the driving in our winters. How bad do you think it's going to be?

toxik 07-22-2010 12:58 PM

Small update, had some free time (and paint) decided to black out my emblems, results were good!

car needs moar low!

hehe not sure, might be springs + spacers, or powdercoating the wheels + calipers. Still deciding, might go for springs first. Then I want to do something about the diffuser, either paint, rear valance overlay, or get the CF diffuser... too many choices with this damn car!

Jamaica 07-23-2010 10:33 AM

Not bad

coaster 07-23-2010 03:34 PM

Good job. Do you have a front picture of the Stillen License Plate Bracket? I'm thinking about purchasing it. Thanks.

vividracing 07-23-2010 04:24 PM

Z is coming along very well. Great taste in mods, love the sounds clips! Can't wait for more mods and pictures!

toxik 07-23-2010 04:40 PM

Thanks for all the positive comments guys!

Exactly what I was looking for. Thank you so much.

toxik 08-16-2010 08:36 AM

finally dropped the car on tein s-tech springs and also pushed the wheels out with Ichiba 20mm spacers on both front and rear.

here are some quick pics from my phone:

ResQguy 08-16-2010 02:42 PM

Those black emblems look bad ***. How easy was that? You should post a DIY.

coaster 08-16-2010 04:16 PM

Looking good. How is the ride with the Tein s-techs? Did you get an alignment yet, and if so, did you need a camber kit? Thanks.

toxik 08-16-2010 04:46 PM

ride is amazing. there are a few things that springs benefit over oem suspension, first there is the looks, no more wheel gap. then handling, less body roll. but the one i noticed most right away is how much softer they are when it comes to hitting bumps on the road and such. in that regard i'm happy, as my goal was to get something to hide the wheel gap and not compromise ride comfort.

toxik 08-25-2010 11:07 AM

so excited to finally do my navi install, got all the parts in this week. gonna go to matt, our friendly forum installer for the installation soon.

this is the pioneer x910bt, nothing special about the installation, just the addition of a rear view camera:

you need to smoke your headlights and get your rims/brakes powdercoated.
then you'll be satisfied for a bit!

Feel any power difference with the HFC + Nismo CBE?

yeah, the cats really opened up and you could tell right away. i haven't dyno'd the car or anything but if I would have to guess, its a substantial improvement but nothing crazy.

Jquad 08-26-2010 12:48 PM

sweet car

corner3garage 08-26-2010 01:11 PM

Nice car! Hope you do some fun mods on them!

toxik 09-13-2010 01:38 PM

Decided to sell the x910bt to a friend of mine and upgraded to the x920bt. Matt came by to install it this weekend, only have a few pics from the installation. Will take some more of the rear view camera and the actual unit later today.

here's a small teaser for now:

Wow, that's a lot of wires. lol

I really like the direction your car is going. Keep the pictures coming!

370Zsteve 09-13-2010 02:36 PM

How is the paint holding up on the badges? I'm concerned if you didn't prep the existing finish that it will flake off with use

toxik 09-13-2010 02:37 PM

thank you sir. i really want to slow it down after I get a few more things done.

here's what I want to get done next:

Tints - 35% all around
Fujimura Black Rear Valance FRP
Possibly do black wheels with pearl white calipers, and maybe do a black and white theme on the headlights as well.

they still look as they do on the pictures. I did do a light sanding on the emblems before painting, but they are still plastic and I know they will chip eventually from random rocks and stuff hitting them. Remember I used Nite Shades on these, not regular black paint. The only permanent solution is buying those $80 black chrome badges :( but so far so good for mine.

iceman21_23 09-13-2010 02:50 PM

are your tailights a matt finish? they look kind of dull, is there a way to still have them shiny and smooth?

they are smooth and shiny in person. i know i posted a pic here when i just mounted them before polishing and they looked matte in that pic. of course the more you wetsand and polish them, the more shine they will have. I also did it by hand... I just don't think it looks as good in pics as it does in real life.

toxik 09-18-2010 02:17 PM

I finally got Pandora to work through Pandora Link. Because I don't have an Iphone, I used Wi-Fi Tether on my Droid in order to connect to the internet with my ipod touch and be able to load Pandora on to the unit. It sounds complicated but it's actually fairly easy once its set up, and works flawlessly... who needs sirius?

chuckd05 09-18-2010 02:30 PM

I have the same deck but I dont have a trim piece and the gap seems way smaller on mine, kinda strange.. The trim came with the deck or did you buy it ? What brand ? Thanks

toxik 09-18-2010 02:34 PM

it's the metra kit, I had the touring model so I couldn't use the OEM faceplate.

toxik 10-09-2010 10:11 PM

update on new mods,

Ordered the FRP Matte Black EVO-R Diffuser, and installed it using VHT tape and self taping screws. Fitment isn't perfect, personally doesn't bother me too much, but still looks better than before:

Oh and sorry for the not so great pics, my Droid camera doesn't function well when it's so bright out. Need a DSLR already :(

Bought some reverse light LEDs for the taillights. They are white SMD LED bulbs:
