Venom Z

Redline Graphics finished the car. Glenn's Wheel Polishing black chromed the wheels. And our very own Mike (the Powdercoater) did the calipers.

cptspeed 05-07-2010 04:18 PM

fairladyZ34 05-07-2010 04:20 PM

JACKPAC 05-07-2010 04:33 PM

Nice unique look. BTW, why does it say 350z on your quarter windows? :p

toxik 05-07-2010 04:45 PM

orange/gold calipers ftw... nice color combo!

CWofRR 05-07-2010 05:01 PM

venom! badass!

phelan 05-07-2010 05:10 PM

i like it, but the hood looks kinda funky. it went pretty grunge-y everywhere else, so having a clean hood with a rather small-ish symbol is out of place imo.

looks pretty good though

Yes, black chrome. Some new light weight chroming process with a 5 year warranty against chips / cracks etc.

Thank you. I can't divulge the price as Justin is a friend of mine, and we kind of did this as a promotion to get his name out in the Tampa Bay area (he is well known up in VA however). You could always give him a shout, as he does travel pretty much anywhere on the East Coast = 703-615-2283

Black Chrome. So when it is a bright day it looks deep black with a gloss reflection .. yet as the day starts to get dimmer it kinda looks more platinum / greyish .. you just gotta see it in person to see what I am talking about. If you are going to Z Dayz you will get a chance to see them in person.

Right. I agree Phelan.. I've gotta get Justin to get a bigger emblem and then some splatters somewhere on the hood. We are still working on the roof as well.

Thank you all.

Sick graphics you are the ultimate. I would have done a bigger venom with super tongue. But I admire you because I could never have the balls to even think of doing something that extreme. Nice job.

CrownR426 05-12-2010 09:01 AM

Why do I see a 350z sticker on a 370z?!

i think your Z is sick tipsz. I love the wheel color and the caliper colors, reminds me of the GTR oem combo, with the golden brembos and gunmetal wheels. Looks amazing on a pearl white body. Keep up the good work!

NYBladeZ 05-12-2010 01:49 PM

I like it a lot minus the hood decal. I would have had a huge white spider Venom decal, it kinda looks like you cheaped out on the hood. I know you didn't but everything else looks extreme but the small white spider comes off as a dud. I'm a huge venom span, your car does him justice and the wheels looks great. How much did the black chrome plating run you?

6MT 05-12-2010 02:58 PM

I don't know whether to laugh or cry at those graphics:shakes head: The wheels and calipers look great though.

TripleBlkZ 05-12-2010 04:04 PM

Awesome car, looks great....

Any chance you can get a shot of the car with a straight side view in the day light? really want to see how the rim's look on a flush side shot....

fuct 05-12-2010 04:55 PM

with a licence plate like "tipsz" dont you get harrased by the cops....?....

Thanks BladeZ. Right, I am still passing ideas to Justin to redo the hood. That was kind of a last minute addition, and well .. you can tell. LOL

The black chroming process was only $150 per wheel (I know Glenn of Glenn's Wheel Polishing), however I think to the average consumer it would be twice that .. so $300 per wheel is $1200 for the entire package. Again, I got special pricing so it was only $600 to get it done.

I will try and get some more shots in this weekend. I need to find a better spot and adjust my exposure on the SLR as well .. as you can tell from these pics, it was a quick 1 minute session with no adjustments.

I hear ya .. it is an extreme measure .. but I've been a fan since the early 90's. I've even got Amazing Spiderman #299 (even though the symbiote actually appeared earlier). It was between Venom and Spawn ... I might do Spawn in a few years though .. lol. The nice thing is that this is vinyl work, and thus can be easily removed / changed on a whims notice (expenses pending). Redline does a lot of standard / simple graphics as well .. I think this just shows Justin's versatility, as all that detail is tough to get applied to the curves of the Z.

Actually, I've been pulled over once (speeding) and he asked how it was supposed to be pronounced .. of course I said it was meant to be said like "Tip's Z" ... but I do get a lot of folks who read it as tipsy (which I dont mind either .. lol).

CrownR426 05-13-2010 09:03 AM

^^ That's a very clever license plate btw!
I like.

How long did it take for them to do the chroming? I really, really like the way they look. I'd seriously consider it at $600, but $1200 is a bit more than I'd want to spend on something like that.

nuTinmuch 05-13-2010 01:10 PM

I was going to write how much I like this.

Instead, I will post a youtube link to some metal, because this is metal as ****:

Just look up Glenn's Wheel Polish here in Tampa - give them a call and tell them Travis with the 370z sent ya .. see what he can do for you!

The process took about 3 weeks however. It would have been 2 weeks, but I wanted my center caps replaced and color matched .. so that had to go back out.

TripleBlkZ 05-13-2010 02:55 PM

I spoke to a chroming place in vancouver and they highly don't recomend doing this up here. Mainly due to the differeance in weather ie. winters....Not like I would drive the Z in winter but hate to have issues with it....but does it ever look good....Not sure how much research people have done on chroming but would like more information on the process and how it does it stand up over time...I know you mentioned the 5yr warrently which sounds great but I may have to ship the rim's a long ways to get the process done and just don't want the possible headache even if its warrently covered....

Right. This is a new chroming process that is not typical of the old school shiny chroming process you might be aware of now a days. That process "supposedly" was very bad for the environment and was really only done down in Mexico as the US place restrictions on that process. Apparently, this is a newer lighter process that is safer and I do indeed have a 5 year warranty against chips / cracks / scratches etc. It did add a little over a pound per wheel however .. but about a pound of rotating mass isn't all that bad for great looking wheel that does NOT compromise the strength of the wheel. When I spoke to Glenn, he mentioned that there was only like 2 or 3 companies in the U.S. that was currently doing the "new" black chroming process, and he was one of them.
