In addition to the Nismo stripe on the side mirrors, added the one to the front bumper while I had it removed.

Been a long wait, ordered these from Z1 on Black Friday, but my Daytona Throttle Bodies came in today. Scheduled to go on the rollers at Dynosty on 3/24/20. Last time put down 351whp in the summer heat/humidity (92 degrees/90%humidity). Planning to do a couple pulls when I get there, then swap out the throttle bodies and go at it again to see if there are any gains to be had. I’m not expecting much from the throttle body swap if anything, more so from the more favorable climate conditions. I’d really like to get to 360whp which on pump 93 would be the highest number I’ve seen on a stock block motor bolted.

johnnydrama 03-23-2020 06:10 PM

Dynosty again at 8am tomorrow for some pulls/re-tune with the new throttle bodies installed. Anxious to see what it does in 50 degree low humidity vs. 90 degree high humidity. Stay tuned!

johnnydrama 03-24-2020 09:15 AM

Unfortunately made a little less than last time. Down to 349 from 351whp and 266 from 271wtq.

Had the roof Carbon Fiber wrapped. Had thought about doing this for a long time as I really like the look. However I had never seen a vinyl Carbon that looked realistic enough to pull the trigger. The guy that did my mirrors reached out when he got his hands on this, it wasn’t cheap but it looks great.

Did you remove the old roof skin? Or was the CF laid direct on the old roof?

ZontheRocks 04-17-2020 01:18 PM

Oh man the CF vinyl wrap looks awesome. I agree with wanting something that really looks like it pops and by your pictures it looks like you've achieved that.

God-Speed 04-17-2020 02:57 PM

Looks good. I'm sure that the pictures don't do it justice.

NecioVato 04-17-2020 03:40 PM

You have a sweet ride man. Do you do a 'detail regiment' to get that red to pop as much as it does? Again, all the mods are very tasteful and really add to the look of the car - congrats.

I’m sorry for the lack of clarity regarding my post. This is a Carbon Fiber vinyl wrap applied to the original roof panel of my car. I can see after re-reading my post why that wasn’t clear.

Thank you, it really does look great and has a lot of depth that makes it appear as a real carbon fiber roof.

Thank you, very happy with it. Pictures don’t do any car justice unfortunately.

Thank you I’ve put a lot of time and money into it but really enjoy it. As far as detailing I use Griots Garage products. In the spring I always wash, clay, then wax. I hand wash only and usually do another coat of wax mid driving season. This is not my daily driver so I’m able to keep it extremely clean and ready to go anytime I want to join a car meet or just hit some back roads.

This has definitely been one of the cooler build threads to follow.

Would you please provide a link to the aluminum extension used in conjunction with your shift set up?

I’m sorry but I’m not sure where the extension itself originated. I bought it from a forum member in conjunction with the Moddiction shift knob. After I installed the B&M short throw shifter I started playing with multiple extension/knob setups and was minutes away from pulling the trigger on a coolerworx shifter but happened to see this setup come through the classifieds section and figured what the heck. I love it and it really helped me improve my 1 to 2 shift under hard acceleration.

I'm happy to share that this bad boy is returning to it's rightful owner, I pick it up on 1/25!

After multiple stints in other rides, AMG GTS, BMW M4, C7 Z06, I'm really excited to get back into the Nismo 370Z for a 3rd time (2nd time for this specific car).

Fortunately the car has been owned by responsible individuals who didn't ruin the integrity of the build.

It seems the Forum is pretty dormant nowadays, but thought I'd share publicly of my new acquisition of an old toy!

ZoomZ 01-23-2024 05:14 PM

I wouldn't sy dormant, but slower. Welcome back

ZontheRocks 01-23-2024 06:23 PM

Wild to see so many Z owners regret selling or come back to the Z platform entirely.

Better yet, with the list of car he went onto, and still got love for the Z (although he went back to his own creation)…Lifetime needs to make a movie on this haha.

It's not new. Every time I sold one of my older Z's (260z or 280z) within a year I needed another one. I still have one today. My 1975 280zt. It's a love/hate relationship with that car. Still won't sell it though. LOL

I wouldn't say I regretted selling the car, and I certainly loved the other cars I owned as well. I'm a car guy, I love them all and would own them all if that was feasible. I definitely put more time, effort, and money into the Nismo 370Z than I have any other car which gives it more sentimental value. It wasn't planned to buy this car back, the new owner reached out to me expressing interest to sell the car back to me specifically and was looking for a quick & easy deal. I'm not going to share what I paid for the car, however it's much less than I sold it for years ago with only 5k more miles on it and it is worth considerably more on the open market. I've purchased it back with the intent to keep forever, however you never know.

What I have missed most about the car is the ability to work on it easily. Most of the other cars I have owned were too complex or expensive to work on so even for general maintenance I would take to a specialty shop. When I sold the Z, I didn't realize how much I would miss just going out to the garage and tinkering with it. I did indeed miss the analog/manual/raw feel of the driving experience as well. This car is slower than my daily driver, an FPACE SVR, however it is far more of an experience to drive on a back road. My C7Z06 was a manual transmission, full bolt-on cammed car making 700+whp, and was certainly raw. It felt like you were driving a NASCAR around town. It was just too fast/capable for the street to drive/enjoy at the level the Z can provide.

The Nismo Z is just an exceptional value, and under appreciated drivers car IMO. Sometimes you don't know what you have, until it's gone.

I already have placed a large order with Z1 for some more goodies for the car and I can't wait to work on it getting it ready for the driving season!

The example I use since some 10+ yrs ago…

Buddy’s E90 M3’s battery died. He had to have it towed to dealership because
re-coding is required (to tell the car battery is new, so it’ll adjust charging to not overcharge).

I just ain’t about that life. I gave up hope on ever getting a European car.

I fall into that camp too. I had a 2015 Sport Coupe for a few years, then sold it. I got the bug again in September and found a 2019 Roadster with 5,000 miles on her. Life is good!

Mr&Mrs 02-07-2024 08:05 AM

Welcome back! Didn't regret selling our Z's but I did get back in one almost an exact year later lol. I sold the last Z to basically someone of my choice. I had offers much higher than the person I sold it to. I knew they would take care of it. We also verbally agreed if ever sold that I would get first dibs on it. Hopefully if or when that time comes I have space for it.

Installed the fully upgraded differential today:

Z1 Street Pro w/ 4.09 gears.

Finishing up a few more installations and maintenance, will be ready to get on the Dyno again at Dynosty on 4/18.

Finished up installations underneath the car:

Z1 fully upgraded differential w/ Street Pro w/ 4.09 gears
Z1 Diff brace
Z1 performance sway bars w/ sway links
Fast Intentions 10” non-resonated Sport exhaust
Coated all of my Soul Function chassis braces Red to match.

Pictures don’t do it justice just how good and clean it looks under the car. Somewhat sad to take it off the Jack stands but can’t wait to drive it.

First some brake upgrades, some under the hood goodies and maintenance. Then headed for dyno runs/tune 4/18 at Dynosty!

johnnydrama 04-18-2024 06:32 PM

Got the car tuned today again down at Dynosty in Louisville. Picked up a few more ponies, 358WHP. And I know I’m biased because it’s mine, but the exhaust setup sounds absolutely wicked.
