lol, phunk has completed a road race pump that should help fuel starvation (???), it's being tested now....
|
COBB Tuning AccessPORT just arrived! I don't have a tuned map for it yet, but nevertheless, I shall retire to the garage for a while to play around with it!
|
nice
|
I am sure you can remove that pesky top speed limiter. :D
|
Installed the COBB AccessPORT today, but admitedly didn't mess around with it very much aside from checking out some of the datalogging and live monitoring features. I am already in love with it though. So many interesting things that can be monitored and/or datalogged for track use and/or testing out products for companies. Wish I had this when I tested out the parts that are already on the car. I am going to have a lot of fun with this thing. :)

^^^Hey Scott!
Yes, I am talking about the 370Z. They don't make one for the 135i. |
yo mike, since ur sponsored by COBB.. do you have more info on what they're doing with their 370z (their mystery machine) and their successes on tuning it...

Quickie update...
The 370Z has been busy on the "show" circuit displayed at the opening round of the Redline Time Attack series, a visit to Vivid Racing in AZ for a charity event over there, etc. I have the Fidanza lightweight flywheel in hand ready to go on the car and want to try to get it on here sometime next week. I also am waiting on AE Performance to get a complete oil cooler kit in stock and then I will order that bad boy as well. There is a track event on the 17th that I REALLY want to go to out here in Las Vegas with the 370Z so I am hoping to have the oil cooler kit here in time to get it on the car for the event. I will have to run on really old Nitto NT05 tires which won't be very fast, but at least I will get some seat time on the Las Vegas Motor Speedway track before the Redline Time Attack there in a few weeks. Surprisingly, I have never driven that track. |
Ooo goin with the long oil cooler?
|
Yessir!
|
AE Perf oil cooler FTW. It's been on my wish list since they introduced it. Maybe you can post pics up without the bumper. Seems Paul @ AE is too busy to post them up for us, but understandable.
Curious to see (hear) if the flywheel is gonna have the cement mixer sound that is common (on the Z33) with lighter fly wheels. Have fun at LVMS and maybe we will see some onbrd vid-ee. |
Did your SSR's come in. I want to see them on the car.

Picked up the car from Paladin Advanced Automotive this morning!
Fidanza flywheel was a lot quieter than I expected. It is noisier than stock at idle, but even with the radio on low it drowns it out. Acceleration is noticeably better as well. Pretty happy with it, especially since it was free. :) AE Performance oil cooler should be in my hands sometime tomorrow, install on Friday along with some other maintenance stuff, then the car is ready for the track event on Saturday! |
Did you put in a clutch at the same time or what?
Still have a bearing rattle or whatever in 1st and 2nd? |

I notice it when I wear flip flops or don't have my seat right and get a crappy lurchy start
|
Side note...
The service from AE Performance is AWESOME. Ordered my oil cooler at around 5:30pm last night and its already out for delivery here in Vegas. I am pretty sure that is after the normal FedEx pick up time so I think they went out of their way to make sure it got out yesterday knowing I had to have it on the car by Friday night for the track. |
AE Performance oil cooler kit just showed up! MASSIVE core, love it!

Hi Mike,
Can you post the rough dimensions of the core? I'm trying to plan out the space up front there and make sure I have room for an upgraded PS cooler as well. |
Quote:
8.5" tall 2" thick Thats just the core. Not including fittings and mounting bracket. |
Perfect! Thanks Mike.
BTW I looked up the specs on this core and this is the most expensive core that Setrab makes, which explains the cost of this kit. It is rated for 40000 BTU's of cooling on a wet sump engine. |
LOL, we don't mess around
We spared no expense w/ this kit, best core, lines, fittings, and adapters. We quit playin game's in the 1st grade. ;) p.s It will fit np w/ ps cooler. We recently did a customer car w/ both coolers. |
Installed photos!
http://www.bonannimotorsports.com/aeoilcooler1.jpg http://www.bonannimotorsports.com/aeoilcooler2.jpg Very high quality parts in this kit. You get what you pay for. :) |
Not sure it is big enough. ;)
|
:D Not playing around anymore. This car should be able to do as many laps as I can throw at it now...well...at least until I burn 1/8 tank of gas and then fuel starvation sets in. :(
|
I love it. /steal
What'd you do with the ps cooler? Just push it out in front? |
I've seen FMIC's smaller than that thing! lol
|
Quote:
|
That won't cause any heat issues? I know as large as the AE cooler is it probably doesn't get too hot, but there isn't any real direct airflow on the PS cooler anymore?
|
Mike, any updates on your COBB AP? played with it at all? Dyno tune?

Thx for posting up pic of O/C. I know you are setting up the car for track, but let us know how fast it heats up the oil to proper temps for the DD and during cooler weather conditions.
|
Mike, any comments about how fast oil temps get up to 180 degrees during normal driving?
