Definitely black rims for me but I may just stick with teh stock Nismo's. The ones I do like are 2 months out so I don't have the patience.

As far as advice...I'm the wrong guy to ask, heck, half the ideas so far is from this board. That photoshop thread helped me quite a bit. I was going to run this really wide stripe down the middle but once Eric drew it out for me it didn't look so great.

I'll keep you in mind if something sticks out, do the same for me if your looking around.

SophiaZ 12-12-2009 06:18 PM

What kind of wide stripe do you mean exactly? Like a thick pinstripe? I've seen 4 inch vinyl decals on the 350s going from the front wheel well straight across to the taillights. Looked pretty good but you have to consider the colors of the car and the stripe itself. I'd say with the matte black..a 2 inch flat dark grey following the trim from the headlights underneath the window lines, curving up and ending at the quarter window would look sharp. haha...but that's what I'm looking at doing to seperate the two colors. Just hoping it'll look as good as I imagine

I watched Ultimate Factories last night. It was about the Lambo factory and the making of the Murcielago SV. They kept showing the matte black one going around a track. Made me rethink my opinion of black cars in a good way.

Mike 12-12-2009 06:52 PM

Really cool! I think I sold my wife on the same idea today. There was a wrapped nismo 350 at The Run down here in Tampa today (not black, but it looked great)

I want it to protect the paint on the track though. I'm thinking matte black with gloss black thepowdercoater.com logos on the side, so it can also be an advertising expense for my business, and therefore tax deductible.

motoextreme 12-12-2009 07:39 PM

Got to love tax writeoffs. Especially the "grey area" once...haha.

I saw that lambo at last years LA Auto Show. On preview night they allowed us to sit in it and check it out. Crazy looking thing in person, looks like batman vehicle or some stealth jet. Pretty sweet!

I've said it before, I'm REALLY excited to see how it comes out! Can't get it back soon enough!!:happydance:

nogoodname 12-12-2009 07:42 PM

matte white...lol... that looks interesting

motoextreme 12-12-2009 07:52 PM

One of the guys at the meet was talking about all types of matte colors, I'm not sure I've ever seen anything but black.

That is SSSWWEEETTT!

Funny, who would of thought Matte would look better then gloss.

I sure like the lines of Lambo's, make any paint look nice. Bought a orange gallardo a couple years back from a dealer in newport beach, unfortunately it didnt end well but they are beautiful cars. Wife just about flipped when I drove up with it, shortest ownership of a car in history!!! Owned it for less then 12 hours HAHAHA.

At first I was:
Then I: :rofl2:
That sucks to hear, I have been a huge fan of matte white and the matte blue (one reason they are so easy to find for me because I look at them all the time). Matte black looks great, but it is so...bland, matte blue is extremely nice and honestly it still has a bit of a pop to it.

Damn you guys, now you are getting me to think about wrapping my car in matte blue...grrrr.

nogoodname 12-12-2009 08:23 PM

matte white is pretty cool... but it would be easier to paint if you got a white Z..lol

matte silver?? primer colour...lol

SmoothZ 12-12-2009 08:24 PM

I think that's the first time I've seen matte blue and white. Very nice! Especially the blue.

Is it more expensive to do a matte color than gloss?

nogoodname 12-12-2009 08:26 PM

matte silver 350z

motoextreme 12-12-2009 08:30 PM

Yeah, I said that on another post. I really F'd up not buying a black car. Painting my jambs is what makes this paint job so much much more $$. Stupid me.

The lambo had 2000 miles on it and the clutch fried on the way home. Had to flatbed it back to the dealer and blocked their driveway with it until they refunded my deposit

It was a Godsent anyway, anyone can afford an exotic if you finance them long enough like i did, its the damn maintenance that kills you! I'll never do it again...much better to look at then own. My neighbor's dying to sell his F430 and he's out 170,000 in new years..insane huh? That's what you get when you buy a car at the Wynn Casino:shakes head:

nogoodname 12-12-2009 08:34 PM

how long did you finance it?? that must of ticked ur wife off.... hahahah

motoextreme 12-12-2009 08:40 PM

There's a place in Newport Beach that only does exotics, its called woodside credit and they go 120 months. They need 25 percent down but do it at really cheap rates.

Bad thing is if you dont keep it your out all the sales tax. My ferrari was 30K down and only 1100 a month or so but I bought it for 160K with tax and solid it for 115 5 months later. That plus about 12K in repairs on a car with under 1500 miles.....I will NEVER own another Exotic except maybe a porsche

Makes me sick to think about it, I could of almost paid my Z off. Met a guy at the show today, said he aspires to own a Ferrari...I said your better off with a GTR, its faster anyway.

motoextreme 12-12-2009 08:42 PM

I just opened an office in Toronto, too bad your so far away, I'd buy you a beer on my next trip! I'm there next month, have to do a couple of interviews.

RCZ 12-14-2009 09:25 AM

You know, I never thought about this, but matte white is extremely sexy too.

yeah, but you track also, think about how many rubber marks from flying marbles it would show.

motoextreme 12-15-2009 11:28 PM

Nismo is in the SHOP

I pulled the trigger! Despite some positive and neg input, car is IN THE PAINT SHOP!! When I get it back it will have a new color, powder coated wheels, lights all redone with some angel eye LED's, some type of door handle mod, badges in Black and maybe a few other little options.

Next update....Hopefully first of the year or VERY shortly after. Wish me luck!

So what are you going with? Matte black?

corner3garage 12-17-2009 11:10 AM

yeah id say you paint the car, the matte would look awesome. I would recommend Angry Panda Fabrications, they painted the "ruined z", amazing color!. Pictures of the car are all over my350z and zilvia.

lemansz20 12-17-2009 02:02 PM

man you are brave, I would hug you and tell you everything will be alright, but this wait is going to KILL you.

motoextreme 12-18-2009 09:53 AM

Doesnt help I have A.D.D. Im already itching but luckily I'm swamped at work (havent even had time for the board lately). I'm going to try and stop by today and get a peak of how its doing.

End result, Flat Black, gloss black rims, red pinstripe on the wheels, red halo type LED's in the lights and a little custom deals here and there. Quite a bit of carbon parts but not sure what's in all these boxes as I ordered them a while back. Need those pillars too in carbon.

Can't wait, I'll take tons of pics!!

Kastley85891 12-18-2009 10:04 AM

That will be sick - In for end result showing.

Side note, Adam - thanks again for the gesture on the shipment of 'experimental' goods. Hope to return a favor to you some day.

Marco_xyz 12-19-2009 03:12 AM

cant wait for your car to be done adam.. im excited for a little photo session!

Marco_xyz 12-19-2009 03:14 AM

PS: the red angel eye leds are gonna go great with the red pinstripe ;) great idea!!

And when you go big brake it.. get some nice red calipers and ill be sooo jealous !!! lol

BLUESLATE 12-19-2009 03:33 AM

It's a cool idea, and a lot of people seems to be doing this lately, but I think you might get bored with the color very quickly.

Also, water spots on flat black colored cars are a BIYACH to clean.

CrownR426 12-19-2009 09:52 AM

Just don't do it camo...
lol!

motoextreme 12-19-2009 10:59 AM

Were going to do a semi sheen matte so its easier to clean, basically a low gloss clear coat.

I hear you on it looking old after a while but I'm not really worried about what's in and whats not, worse case I'll add some vinyl later when I get tired of it.

Red Calipers.. Really want to do that but brakes are so DAMN pricey!! Need to get some more scratch together first.

gladeslvrcoq 12-19-2009 10:03 PM

^ In for some update pics from the shop! :excited:

motoextreme 12-20-2009 12:19 AM

ive been stalking your thread waiting for pics, id call you cruel for making us wait so long but......

i would be ready to slit my wrist if it was my car and i had to wait. i got a new transmission installed in a 1999 miata i owned. those were the longest days of my life waiting on the shop to get to it and complete the work,

soo ill let you off with a :merrychristmas:

but seriously after xmas pics for sure right?

motoextreme 12-23-2009 09:28 AM

You guys will be the first to hear!!!

Called him last night and apparently the car's in a ton of pcs. I'm going by to pick up the rims and stuff today.

While I have you...there's been some CHANGES:

Rather then all flat, looks like we may do a few pcs gloss, such as the roof, tail etc (still not 100% but it gets sprayed next week so I better jump on it)

Two, I was going with gloss stock rims but I bought VOLKS so now its all flat black with dark bronze wheels. May sound kind of strange but I'm going to pick up an Aprillia RSV Factory bike when I get a couple of bucks, always liked the flat black and goldish wheels, its a little too gold but I think the Bronze will will awesome!

Three, was going to leave the brakes alone but you know me.... So now its going to have 6 piston brembo's in the front, cross drilled Rotora rotors (SP?) and stock rear calipers (couldnt afford the whole kit)

My CF pillars should be here soon and I have some JDM Carbon parts coming as well for under the hood and inside.

Once all this is done, I'm going to work with my good friend Tony at FI to help me add a Turbo system unless of course that SC deal comes up.

Have PICS SOON!!!!! Yeah baby!!!

PS. Still debating the coilovers........hmmmmm?????

motoextreme 12-23-2009 10:12 AM

My New Wheels

Here's the wheels I'm picking up today:
http://i642.photobucket.com/albums/u...eels/ce28n.jpg

What do you think?

theDreamer 12-23-2009 10:19 AM

I hate you, not a fan of bronze, but have always liked those wheels.

motoextreme 12-23-2009 10:24 AM

I'm with you but they are IN STOCK and I dont have to wait.

I'm putting them on and if it gets old I'll paint them later. I like the fact they aren't powdercoated, my wifes Foose Rims on her Rover came powdercoated and they get chipped to hell!

It should be cool. This is the bike I'm talking about, its a little too gold but you catch my drift:
