Astro's Vert Build

So just starting the thread now even without much done or any real goal jsut a good place to start and show some progress

http://i1087.photobucket.com/albums/...psbixkiknt.jpg

2010 6M vert fully loaded
So bit of a story of why I have a vert... So before I had the fairlady I had bought a 15 brz, loved the car on the track but for an everyday car was utter crap a rattly POS, so we had gotten a 370z in on trade at work and seeing it was a vert figured it was an auto and really didnt care, the next day I get to work and I pull it up for a used car inspection and go out to it and bam full option 6M vert, I knew the second I started the car I wanted it...even if it was a vert :p talked to our used car guy and really the price was too good to pass up...

Now what I want to do pff where does one start?? its my daily but I track it a few times a month in the nice weather so some performance some daily, at least till I can import my delta

Congrats and welcome to the family!

astro932 02-07-2016 02:30 PM

So I have the 2.5in aam exhaust in it and I have to say while it sounds great... worst exhaust I have ever put in, never wants to line up doesnt want to seal at all... but oh well it sounds nice some of the time so plan is to cut off the flanges and weld it all, rebend all the hangers and just live with it...

It's going to still sway like hell. Do a cross cable between two high points on the stands. I am going to have beams welded instead of cable

ya you can really feel how much it moves even without the wing on.

DatsunFTW 04-04-2016 01:36 PM

Judging by the fact that you still haven't done cross cables it had too much stress or your angle of attack was way too harsh.. Is how I believe it happened

DatsunFTW 04-04-2016 01:36 PM

Did you run tension rods from the chassis bracket to the chassis? Because it will still have a tiny bit of back and fort movement.

well I have pipe for mine that the teaded rods hold in and then I have crosscables, there really is next to no sway in it. Im not entirely sure Ill probly just ditch the crap wing and go get on from Goodaero

astro932 04-04-2016 06:36 PM

I honestly can tell though the wing isnt upto the amount of downforce it can generate, it flexes wayy to much to actually do enough so oh well on to expensive aero

DatsunFTW 04-04-2016 06:39 PM

Have you even tried it? Had a track day with it? Because it is effective when put into real stress. I know fiberglass can flex. Which is why true track drivers get carbon. I made that mistake of not getting a carbon deck which is why I bought a carbon roll and will be using the frp wing as a mould.

not on track but the backroads I take are just as fast as being on track and ya you can feel the diference it makes but you know it would be way more if the thing was ridged... but it served its use I do like how it looks and with a real wing itll be even better

DatsunFTW 04-04-2016 06:44 PM

A wing is only effective at 80mph plus. I doubt the back roads you take keep you at those speeds.

hehe well legally I have to agree with that but between you an the rest of the internet I umm am rarely under 100 a few tight 2nd gear turns but mostly yaaaaaaaaaa

DatsunFTW 04-04-2016 06:47 PM

So why did you buy the wing? (just curious)

well I do track the car and wanted to see if it would make any difference or it it was going to look a bit too odd... I am going to play with a few more suspesion parts now too so a good baseline would be nice and then through that wing back on and see how much faster I can get my laps too

astro932 04-08-2016 05:58 PM
