I switched to my new summer wheels today, SSR Type F 18's in matte black. It's supposed to rain/snow tomorrow, if it doesn't I'll get some pics. I'm really happy with these wheels along with the drop. |
Along with the wheel swap today I cleaned up some previous work (greased the sway bar mounts, re-torqued the front and rear suspension bolts - some bushings were squeaking most likely from overtightening). My wife and I had the day off together and she got a little camera happy so I thought I would share.
http://www.the370z.com/members/schru...8-img-1205.jpg Halfway through the wheel swap. Which ones do you think look better? http://www.the370z.com/members/schru...9-img-3701.jpg When the wife does well at work she is sometimes rewarded with the company seats at the Jazz game. 12th row. I am constantly encouraging my wife to do well at work:rofl2: http://www.the370z.com/members/schru...0-img-1212.jpg Jazz win http://www.the370z.com/members/schru...1-img-1227.jpg Another Saturday of working on the Z and basketball... :D:D:D |

Just got back from a trip to San Diego. Drove the Z. My brother and his wife have a six week old baby girl that we went to visit. From there we took a flight to Tucson for a family reunion on my wife's side. I left the Z with Marco and Ryan at MR Works so they could work their magic. I couldn't be happier with the results. The pictures speak for themselves.
http://www.the370z.com/members/schru...00403-1751.jpg http://www.the370z.com/members/schru...00403-1822.jpg I went with flat black everything, landing strip, parking light led conversion (from amber to white), smoked reflector (tinted with spray tint) and a switch to turn the landing strip on/off. Let me tell you, these guys are great! Marco and Ryan were very helpful when I was deciding what I wanted and anwered all my questions. They always got back to me quickly and made me feel like me and my car were in good hands. I left my car with them for 3 days while I flew out of town and didn't think twice about it. They were even willing to give me a ride to the airport if I needed it! Two thumbs up!  Thanks again Marco and Ryan - it was great meeting you guys! I also worked with BAT to get my fangs and rear valance done in flat black. Click here for pics. Andy (BAT) was also great to work with, and Sean (one of his installers) went above and beyond including working Easter Sunday to get my car done. Thanks guys! Here's Andy and his sick GT-R http://www.the370z.com/members/schru...9-dsc00338.jpg Ryan from MR Works and Sean working on my car http://www.the370z.com/members/schru...00403-1805.jpg I grew up in SD and I miss living there. The weather was great, especially considering I came back to snow here in Utah (BOO!). A couple hours before we left SD the earthquake made my brother's family and my wife and I head for their backyard. The water in the pool sloshed around quite a bit and we had a tense few minutes. While there my brother gave me a ride in his Cayman S and as much as I like my Z it would be real tempting to get one if I had the cash - sick car! We had a great time getting to know my new niece, had a ton of fun with her 2 year old brother, my brother and his wife. Then got to drive home in the Z with some cool mods. Thanks guys! |
It was a pleasure meeting you, your wife, as well as your brother!! Let us know if you need anything or if your visit SD again! We will gather the cars, grab some drinks, and do a shoot :)
|
^definitely! And you may hear from my brother about doing some led's on his Porsche. He thought they were sick on my car!
|
Glad you liked how the car turned out. If you plan on making it out this side again, make sure you let us know. Your brother litterally lives at the end of my street too, so if he needs any overlays done on his car, Its a quick trip for me to go there and do the install for him. Good meeting you!
|
Nice, schrute! That goes for the journal, the Z, and those basketball seats! ;)
|
Looking good Schrute!

The Ferrari challenge was awesome.. Me and my buddies drove out to Tooele to ride at the motocross track but the wind was so bad that we ended up going to Miller Motorsports Park and checking out the cars and racing action. It was really cool. Glad to see you made it out there too man!

^I couldn't believe the kind of money those teams must have. What gets me even more is that they are dealers that sponsor the teams. I don't care how many of those cars you sell I just can't see sponsoring that type of a race team being a good investment.
One other thing that really really got me going, as I was leaving there was a NEW california sitting by the end of the padock that we were looking at, Some dude walks up and starts touching it and rubbing his hands all over it. I was so pissed, me and all of my friends just looked at him shook our heads and said "if we owned this car you would be knocked out right now" the dude didn't even get what we were mad about. |
What a DB! That guy will get knocked out someday if he keeps that up.
That's true about the sponsorships, how can that make money with everything they have to spend? Maybe it's all about tax deductions. |
^I was thinking tax deductions, or that Ferrari takes its top 20 or whatever dealers and gives them a race team. Because as far as I could tell all the 430's were prepped identically.
The guy was a DB for sure and the guy that was with him was all telling him to lean on it and take his pic. I had to walk away before I started dropping people. |

When I bought this car I told my wife it didn't need anything. Uh... yeah.
Current Mod List Wheels/Suspension SSR Type F, flat black (18x9.5+22 front, 18x10.5+15 rear) 255/40 front, 295/35 rear Muteki black open-end lugs Eibach springs SPC rear camber arms/toe bolts Hotchkis sway bars Intake/Exhaust F.I. CBE, 18" resonators, stainless JWT Pop Chargers Exterior MR Works headlights (flat black, landing strip, smoked reflectors, amber to white parking light LED conversion) Ventureshield (half hood, bumpers, headlights, mirrors, rocker panels, rear fender arches) Bluebatmobile overlays (fangs and rear valance, flat black) Tint (18% rear, 25% sides, 70% front) Tinted tails LED reverse bulbs LED license plate bulbs Stealth rear turn signal bulbs Debadged '370', relocated 'Z' Stant InStant Fill gas cap Interior Illuminated door sills (custom white LEDs) Hardwired detector with mirror mount Nismo titanium shift knob Scangauge II Garmin GPS Next up Install the sport package Akebonos. Just need to source some rear calipers. Trying to decide whether to paint the door handles PG or flat black, or leave them alone. Also trying to decide whether to leave emblems alone, paint them flat black or get the black chrome ones. Thinking about an overlay on the roof (flat black of course). Can't decide if I should paint the center caps flat black. Also thinking about a flat black overlay on the mirrors. Need to get some 6k HID bulbs to match the LEDs. Tow hook? Opinions welcome! |
I think the roof in flat black would complete the car... and the overlay could always be removed
Cars sick btw , I love the wheels |
Blacking out the front fangs looks hella nice....Kinda makes the Z look like a baby GTR...What type of paint did you use to your fangs and grill?
|
schrute didnt paint his fangs... he had bat do a fang overlay outa vinyl.... if you wanna paint urs... here is my DIY...

Jeff, i forgot to mention to you. have your exhaust checked. The pipe on the driver's side i don't think is lined up correctly. its closer to the body than the passenger side. if you measure the distance between the tips to the bumper you will notice its almost touching compared to the other side
|
Thanks for the heads up Shawn, I'll have a look at it.
|
Got some Toyo T1-R rear tires on today in 295/35-18 at 15,200 miles. Hopefully these last longer than the Yoko's they are replacing (they only lasted about 8k, the other 7k miles on the car were on winter tires). I've had T1-R's on the front for the last month or so, it's nice to be back to a matched set (just doesn't feel right to mix tires on the Z, does it?)
I also got another alignment, the springs settled some more and the alignment was off. |
I started my sound deadening project with Second Skin products today. After running around all day getting some other stuff taken care of including tires and an aligment I finally made it to Radio Shack to pick up a decibel meter. I measured the interior noise level in the car, cruising at 70 mph with the windows up, a/c and stereo off, level asphalt road @93 db.
When I finish installing all the product ANT sent me I'll take another measurement on the same road with the same conditions. My buddy Tyler came over to hang out and work on the car, he also brought his little friend... http://www.the370z.com/members/schru...6-img-3709.jpg http://www.the370z.com/members/schru...7-img-3710.jpg http://www.the370z.com/members/schru...8-img-3711.jpg http://www.the370z.com/members/schru...9-img-3712.jpg We got a good start but this is going to take more time than I could give tonight. I'll work on it some more this weekend and will update the results. I got a few cuts on my hands working with the tiles until I smartened up and put some gloves on. Also, don't even try this without a roller - more on that later. |
Awesome, glad you picked up a decibel meter so we can get actual numbers on the improvement.
|
Great pics! I'm also working with MR Works to get some modified headlights for my MB Z. Also getting tailights tinted and rims powdercoated black so it should come out looking pretty sweet. Your Z looks fantastic!
