Asheth's 09 370z 2015 Nismo Conversion/Journal

Thanks to Z1 Motorsports for great service I ordered everything besides my rear spats from them.

Special thanks to Cooltoy who's photoshop skills helped me make my choices along the way.

I've owned my Z since 09 as you can probably tell from my join date. This isn't really a journal but if anyone has any questions about the conversion feel free to ask. I love the new look of the Nismo and I wanted to have that look, but didn't want a car payment

I'm thinking of going with the Carbon Signal type N spoiler next.

Damit that looks so good! Makes it look fresh again, to bad I'm broke.

SwissCheese 04-08-2015 08:33 PM

Looks good!

Are those headlights the actual 2015+ NISMO headlights, or did you just have your stock set painted?

Also, that guy in the "older picture" is totally looking the wrong way!

Corona 04-08-2015 08:39 PM

Thats great. Its like getting a new car.

Those are the actual DRL's Carbon signal has some things in the work for this bumper so you could hold out. I don't regret buying them though. They aren't cheap but I was willing to pay.

ufoz8mycow 04-09-2015 09:56 AM

Looks fantastic! If you don't mind us asking, what was the total cost of the front conversion with LEDs and everything? Did Z1 provide the OEM DRLs as well (don't see them on their website)?

Front bumper is around $370 side skirts I think are $800 or so shipped IIRC. The DRL's are $1270(currently and going up when Z1 runs out of their current stock of them). DRL's are an option when you order the bumper. I wasn't going to get them but ordered them later from Z1 just call if all you want is the DRL's.

I also have sunline rear spats I don't have the new Nismo rear as I don't like it that much for my taste.

Grand total for everything including painting, labor that included electrical work, calipers painted high temp paint, a few touch up areas. About $4000 give or take a hundred. No DRL's your looking at $2800 but your mileage will vary with different shops or you are doing the work yourself.

As I mentioned Z1 has the DRL's at dealer price but Joel informed me they will have to charge the list price after what they have in stock runs out. I think list is like $1500 but not sure 100%.

ufoz8mycow 04-09-2015 06:03 PM

I agree... I'm not too crazy about the new Nismo rear bumper or even the rear spoiler. IMO you've done it perfectly so mad props.

Did the red accent pieces on the front bumper come painted that color already or did you have to paint those? I have the one color car that I don't think red accents would work with (black cherry).

JC-Nismo 04-14-2015 01:22 AM

Dam good conversion, great job man and love the wheels too.

Z1motorsports 04-14-2015 05:03 PM

Beautiful car and thanks for the positive feedback!

They come painted that color on the front bumper.

Yea I know I am terrible with angles so I through some filter to try and make them a little better . I will be getting some good photos this Weekend taken by someone who is good with a camera.

Asheth 04-15-2015 07:49 PM

So I am still waiting on my Type N spoiler from carbon signal.

Here is a picture from the College Park Tuning meet.

My spats started to coming off

http://i.imgur.com/A6bjBxF.jpg

I decided to gamble and go with the Evo-R diffuser. Fitment seemed to be hit or miss but Fujimara is a little backed up and I am often impatient.

I changed my exhaust from Ark Grip to Fast Intentions non-res. I bought #1079 off of E46guy here on the forums.

Here is the bracket the body shop came up with for the spats.

Final result with Evo-R diffuser I'll get better pics soon.

ufoz8mycow 05-07-2015 07:58 PM

So how did the fitment on the Evo R diffuser end up being?

Fitment is good we did use screws though. You can barely see them as they are gray to blend in

Some new goodies have been put on.

Carbon Signal Type N spoiler.

Z1 drilled and slotted rotors

New front tires are 245/30 previously I had 245/35 which had to much rubbing and new muteki lugs.

nice progress so far!

how do you compare your old ARK with the new FI setup? my guess is, it drones a little more?

Actually I think it drones less. My honest opinion is that the ARK provides a deeper sound so you get more drone at cruising speeds on the highway. The FI provides a more refined sound if that makes sense. I guess it's like someone that can sing with control vs someone that is trying to sing on talent alone.

At WOT the FI is louder but still gives some deep sounds. I do have more hiss with the FI which I didn't notice with my ARK, but it doesn't bother me at all.

I would still take the FI everytime over ARK just on clearance alone. They both have low cans but the angles where the FI sits I haven't scraped it once in the same places that I took my ARK.

The black and red color combo looks good! Can't wait to see what's next
