That ends up way out of the way for me. I'll be going up 15. :driving:

I'm going up to lock down the picnic site. No cruise for me.

I could probably join the cruise from Columbia too. What time did you guys want to meet up there?

Meeting at Columbia Crossing at 0830 would give us time to get there plenty early.

HOWEVER.

I could lead a cruise up some back-roads on our way there, if we'd like. Not the whole route, but some of it. It'll extend our drive time a bit, so we could head-out from Columbia Crossing around 0800-0815, and we should still get there with time to spare...

Thoughts?

My kinda time frame. So, if you watch Top Gear (British), I am not Clarkson nor Hammond. I lean more towards May. I think I'm more Lieutenant Slow, perhaps not Captain Slow.

Does that mean you guys will leave me in the dust?

Besides, I am going to have food in the back, some of it spillable. I don't want salsa soaking into the mats in the back. Maybe we should just bring the Altima.

The preliminary route I just made increases the drive time by about 30 minutes. Starts off funner than it ends. Will bring us right through old town Ellicott City.

CLICK RIGHT HUR

No, I'd take it at a reasonable, fun pace. It's mainly for scenery.

The beginning of the route has some VERY tight S-turns that are...unreasonable to take quickly. I know, I took it yesterday on my motorcycle, and may have almost gotten killed once :-p

Cool. So how do you "like" something like that. So I just liked the first part, not the almost getting killed part. My brother tells bike stories like that. I'm like, sh!t dude, I only have one brother.

My motto?

:driving:, but :driving: safely. Save the crazy stuff for autoX and track days. And yet, I still catch myself ... Since I'll have my wife along, she tends to scratch up the passanger side door handle flailing around trying to grab it if my approach to a corner seems a little aggressive.

It happens when you're riding. You simply recover and learn from them. Long and short, I misjudged a blind right-hand corner and took it too hot. Scrubbed off some speed by staying upright (COULD have simply leaned harder to get back across the double yellow, but opted not to). That right turned into an immediate blind left, and right as I was getting back across the center, a Prius came around the opposite direction. Thankfully, he wasnt speeding, but to be honest I had plenty of time/space to evade if I needed to.

Long and short, all turned out well, and the rest of the ride was uneventful.

Btw, when I say tight s-turn, I mean TIGHT - I wasn't particularly hauling or being reckless, but I did enter the corner incorrectly.

Don't worry, I don't intend to push it through the corners. I just want a fun, uneventful back-road ride up to the park, versus the monotonous 695->70->whatever north.

I recommend you adjust your route from college ave to use River Rd instead and then regroup in old E if needed. That's a cool stretch of road with a few twisties and its narrow right next to a river, there's also a pretty cool abandoned building that would be cool for a photo shoot. Fun road just need to be safe!

4r3s 07-21-2014 12:04 PM

just take Illchester until it turns into River.
