Carlisle Performance and Style + Import & Kit Nationals May 9th-10th / 16th -17th

It's that time again. For those of you who are interested, registration for the Carlisle May shows is now open. If you register before April 7th, you will pay much less than if you pay at the gate and they'll mail you your window stickers to save time.

Links to events here:

P&S: Performance & Style
(hopefully the weather holds this year)

I&K Nationals: Import & Kit Nats

P&S: $65.00 entry for the judged showfield, $50 for non-judged. I will be parking in the judged showfield.

I&K is $35.00 to park in the showfield and I wouldn't recommend doing the "standard of excellence" judging unless your car is bone stock and very clean.

For P&S, we tend to head up Friday night. We'll get dinner and then if the weather is good, they have a cruise/welcome event that's pretty cool. The event runs all day Saturday and Sunday but most people don't stick around for Sunday. The drive-thru judging for the showfield takes place on Saturday. You will be given a time to pull up to the judging area.

For the I&K Nationals, there's no Friday event but you want to be on the lot EARLY to get a good spot on Saturday. Again, most people don't stick around for Sunday.

Where to stay
: I typically stay at the Motel 6 Carlisle. Fewer idiot kids and it's cheap. Let's be honest, you're not in Carlisle for a swanky hotel. It's about $60 per night and I have yet to see them run out of room so I won't be pre-booking group rooms this year unless people really want me to.

What to bring:
-Tents or an umbrella. You will want one to stay out of the sun and/or weather.
-Detailing supplies
-Coolers are permitted. Not sure if alcohol is permitted but no one has ever hassled me about it. Just don't be a ****.
-A lawn chair or something to sit on. There's a lot of sitting around.

FAQ:
Q: How long does it take to get there?
A: About an hour and a half from where I live (Germantown, MD)

Q: What is there to do other than the show?
A: Tons of fun little bars and restaurants. P&S would be the more "rowdy" of the two events and the police and Carlisle residents behave accordingly.

Q: Rowdy? Huh?
A: P&S gets a much younger "Fast and Furious" crowd. Lots of alcohol. Lots of dumb kids doing dumb things but if you're into the mod scene, this is the show to attend. I&K is more about restorations, kit cars and "clean" older cars. It's also more relaxed and people will come up to you and talk about cars rather than having "who has the loudest, most annoying stereo" contests with their neighbors.

Q: Police? Are they dicks or something?
A: Well no but if you act the fool, you will get a ticket. I watched an idiot do a burn-out while waiting to get into the fairgrounds and he was immediately pulled over. DO NOT SPEED. You will get caught and ticketed. I flat-out guarantee it. The good news is, you won't get pulled over for "questionably legal" mods.

I may add to this.

MyKindaGuise 02-26-2014 08:39 PM

im still down for hosting a Z cookout at my place before the event btw.

dmhenderson 02-26-2014 09:23 PM

I'm gonna do my own brakes ahead of time so no shop day beforehand. I'm down for a cookout or whatever.

MyKindaGuise 02-26-2014 09:24 PM

Thank gawd! haha I have a lot of wrapping up todo before show season :/.

eastwest2300 02-27-2014 09:58 AM

Cody, im down for a cookout, but no show for me..

OldFart 02-27-2014 10:09 AM

I'd be up for something, car will be out if this damn snow ever melts and we are supposed to get more this coming weekend, probably no mods done to it by then though. :( Work Friday and Saturday so may not be able to go to show but if meeting up after 9pm Sat. night would like to associate a face to the names I see here...

dmhenderson 03-12-2014 10:20 AM

So I have a workshop that runs May 5th through the afternoon of the 9th which is going to suck. Right now, I'm planning on a super detail session the weekend prior and leaving the car garaged (I guess) for lack of a better idea.

FPenvy 03-26-2014 03:27 PM

i'm down to go again this year. it was fun last year minus the rain. luckily we had 2 pop up tents to hide under lol

XwChriswX 03-27-2014 12:17 AM

I might be able to go this year.

With finals being up in the air still, ZDayZ is not confirmed.

MyKindaGuise 03-27-2014 03:04 PM

Still down. Car is getting vinyld for the show season!

I'm an invitational car for P&S so uh...anyone going it would be helpful to have a ride.

dmhenderson 03-27-2014 07:26 PM

I bought yet another set of spacers (5mm this time) for the rear because the tires aren't quite flush. The negative camber on the nismo is much more visible with the bigger tires on it. I'm gonna get them to poke out just a bit. All I have left is a paint chip to repair on my fender and a massive detail job.

FPenvy 03-27-2014 07:32 PM

Depending on if I bring my tent or not will decide on if I have a front seat open or not

I guess I can just take cabs around carlisle all weekend but I'd rather not have to do that. I'm gonna call the event organizer person and see what options are available since I don't have a chase car. I dunno whether I'm gonna bother bringing my tent this year since the car is going to be parked in a barn anyway. I'll likely just hang out with you guys though since I don't want to hang out in one of those barns all day.

My girlfriend doesn't want to go (can't imagine why).

i mean as we saw last year the pop up tents were crucial lol

i mean worst case i can see if i can run it through the back then up between the seats for the short drive from the hotel to the fairgrounds. i just cant remember if it can fit that way or if it hit the window. i'll check it out later this week when i pull the Z out after the rain this weekend.

I don't see why not. Will have to clear it with the fam first. Im living at home again temporarily. But I see no reason we cant have a garage party/cookout.

a cookout in PA at MyKindaGuise's crib ?? I might have to make to make this trip !

italy3541 03-29-2014 03:27 AM

We can have a cookout at my new house, also I have a 2 car garage if you guys need to do work before the show. not trying to step on codys toes on the cookout. just another option being that mechanicsburg is only a 5 min drive to Carlisle..

I'd be in for that too... not so much the car show but to hang out with pat and cody, that'd be cool.
