That's awesome Bertaut! I honestly don't even know much about the place. We just went to the one area to eat for the GT-R cruise and that's all I saw. Would be nice to get some group activities organized to take full axvantage of the opportunity. I think a cruise and a hike to the falls would be awesome. I know I'd want to do both.

If I remember correctly, the hike is about 1 mile round trip. Some elevation change, but you don't have to wear hiking boots for it.

Well folks, looks like we have another decision to make. I think we can declare Cunningham Falls the official location for this year's BBQ, but there are 2 separate areas of the park where we can setup. The Manor Visitor Center is the sheltered picnic area where we ate for the GT-R cruise. It is kind of on the outside border of the park and about 5-10 mins from the main park area. The picnic area in the main part of the park (by the lake and the falls) is on a first-come first-serve basis and there are no sheltered areas there.

Since everyone wants to go hiking and go see the falls, I think we'd be better off setting up by the lake. If we set up awnings like we had at the College Park meet, I think we'd be ok with shade.

I agree with the location.

I have no idea how busy it gets there, but we may want to try and get there earlier rather than later. I feel like this is going to be like a full day event now.

b1adesofcha0s 06-01-2013 08:36 PM

I meant it's going to be more fun for the whole day. Get set up there in the morning, then a nice cruise, hike to the falls, and bbq.

eastwest2300 06-01-2013 09:02 PM

Im in just for the food.. haha... yall can have all that other stuff.

Vicster 06-01-2013 09:26 PM

Is anyone going to want to cruise from the DC area to the Falls that morning? Or are we going to just do a meet there kinda thing?

The way blades explained it today at the meet, after arriving and eating we could take a small cruise in the area. I wouldn't want to be the one to open a bottle of soda after a spirited cruise.

eastwest2300 06-02-2013 07:25 AM

They usually cruise in a group to the area, as for me, I'm always late so show up whenever.

RandyD 06-02-2013 09:21 AM

i'll be happy to plot out a little local cruize route...

yup.. this is true.

b1adesofcha0s 06-02-2013 12:42 PM

Yeah we can definitely have a caravan to the BBQ area. A cruise to the park wouldn't make sense with most of us carrying stuff in our cars. Cruising during or after the bbq would be nice. Thanks for organizing it Randy!
