My guess was some sort of mounting bracket for a tri-tip exhaust but apparently that's not correct.

lol it's a merge collector for shorty headers

I don't think superchargers can out of no where run more boost, unlike turbochargers which boost is controlled by the wastegate, there can be issues with boost creep or variations in boost levels depending on the climate

Somewhat reassuring.

Looks like Doran is going to start selling their own then. Trying to picture how that would fit and I'm not seeing it.

Its at the end of the header. It is what joins all the individual runners into one pipe that then goes to the cats/CBE

And Khoi is right. I don't see her issue being boost related at all. SC's are pretty static.

Ideas to why she might be dumping oil then?

Would I be hated for saying "because its a Pontiac?" lol because it is a Pontiac.

Just kidding :roflpuke2:
I LOVE the G8's.

But im not really sure. Not familiar with LS platforms. Not as familiar as I like to be because they are generally pretty BA.

dmhenderson 07-01-2013 02:43 PM

Also just because the SC ran consistent boost, it could have been too high from the jump.

Sales@AAMComp 07-01-2013 02:45 PM

probably just a bad oil leak somewhere, her exhaust would shoot black smoke if it burnt that much oil lol

Or an oil line for the SC fell off or split? Oil cooler connection failed? Could be any number of things. Most LS motors can handle an easy 6psi or 140whp jump on a bone stock drivetrain.

dmhenderson 07-01-2013 04:08 PM

That's pretty sturdy. Go figure

Srs DIY weekend!

JLT oil separator Friday night and washed/clayed/waxed the car

Installed the Redline Goods leather shift boot and e-brake boot in the 5.0 on Saturday.

And DIY'd Steve's old 5.0 Ford Racing axle-back exhaust and X-pipe. Slight exhaust leak in the x-pipe connectors, but gonna get those welded up tight this week hopefully :tiphat:

Nice Jay, Redline makes excellent products. Turned out great.
I have been thinking about installing a catch can too, Moroso makes a nice one for the ZL1. My concern is giving the dealer, GM rep, etc any reason to deny a warranty claim.

I think a catch can(s) are the most overlooked but important mod. Just my opinion ... but it keeps alot of nasty stuff out of there.

As far as warranty you are only messing with the vacuum lines ... but hard to tell with dealerships ... not many of them seem to dig anything aftermarket.

Yeah I definitely recognize the benefit of the catch can but I can see them possibly using that as an excuse. You would think manufacturers would see the benefit of the catch can to protect the engine and start including them as a standard part.
