I can provide suggestions for anyone who wants to lead such a cruise. Shoot me a pm if interested. I have maps and experience there.

Yeah some maps would be helpful. I may very reluctantly lead a mildly paced cruise, but I really would rather have someone else do it. I'm terrible at trying to figure out directions on the fly when I'm cruising.

MightyBobo 06-18-2014 09:36 PM

I wouldn't mind running a cruise. Just need the route.

You fellas have fun on that cruise.

dmhenderson 06-19-2014 04:58 PM

You don't want to cruise? I don't think this will be a ~randy cruise~ -type cruise.

eastwest2300 06-19-2014 05:27 PM

naw man, y'all can have that.. I'm sure it'll be lots and lots of fun.

I'll get a few options together and pm yall

dmhenderson 06-19-2014 08:07 PM

Yeah it has to be a relaxed cruise or I won't be able to go (unless the dog and girlfriend do not come). She still talks about that one Randy cruise I took her on up near harpers.

If me or Bobo lead it, it won't be bad

Shouldn't be anything too crazy

Lost the radar with the last car, so I have no long range eyes. Still in the updating phases of the new build so probably won't be able to push very hard either.

I'm helping put on a car show tomorrow afternoon from 4-7. It is at one of my church's campuses. This is not a religious thing though. Here is the write-up for it.

Need For Speed Cool Car Show will be held Saturday, June 21 from 4–7 pm. Bring the whole family out for a great time with cool cars featuring a Show and Shine Car Show, car trivia, live road course, a big screen airing of the C’était un Rendezvous with a Ferrari racing through the city streets of Paris, prizes, food for purchase, and a chance to judge your favorite cars!

Location:
McLean Bible Church, Prince William Campus
10002 Battleview Parkway
Manassas, VA 20109

Feel free to stop by to look or participate! Should be fun!

Autocross, but I'm not sure it will be timed. It is not a competition, just for fun. I think people got about three runs in before they shut it down. Small course held on the upper deck of a parking garage. Could be fun.

Well, it's never "supposed" to rain at a car show ;-). I think the cars will all be parked under cover. So we would still like a good turnout.

dmhenderson 06-20-2014 07:39 PM

Is that guy with the 458 Italia going to be there? Wish my car wasn't in the shop :/

I will try to make it.

EDIT: Moved to rain date! Same place and time, just moved to this Sunday instead of Sat! Hope you can still make it!

Picked up the tuner yesterday, so the rex is running the proper map now.

Brake lines will be installed Monday, and new downpipe will be installed on the 17th.

tl;dr

I will be able to push. :driving:

CAR SHOW IS BACK ON FOR TODAY! The show I mentioned earlier had been moved back to today at the original time. The official organizers want to move forward, as the forecast indicates mainly clouds during that time. Chance of rain has also dropped. Please try to make it out if you can!

I would not have been able to make Sunday. Could do today though.

Thanks for braving the rain and coming out! I hope you enjoyed looking at the cars that were there.

This is going to be an annual event from now on and I'll get the word out earlier. Last year they had over 50 cars. I guess the threat of rain kept most of the cars away.

MightyBobo 06-23-2014 09:57 AM

Yeah, the Sunday FFX car show was a little light too, apparently, but the showing was still some of the best cars Ive seen in a LONG time. That custom Lister was just...stupid hot.

How was the little AutoX course? I was most excited for that :-p

Thanks for showing up and setting up the short autocross course! I know that the course was not as big as we were expecting (damp in one corner and a small lot), but you made a good little down and back run. Not enough cones available to make it a legitimate autocross event. I was not responsible for the cones this year, but I'll make sure that we have plenty of cones next year and actually do some crossing over instead of just down and back. You made the most of what we had and I know the drivers appreciated it. I think the spectators enjoyed it as well.

Hope your autocross event went well on Sunday.

It was cool. I got there late but still some nice cars. I wanna go next year. Would be willing to help out as well. Since there were some young folk there it might be worth pushing the idea of either the Tire Rack sponsered Street Survival program or the BSR accident avoidance program at Summit Point. I got my son into the Street Survival school. Very cool, directed to the 15 to 22 year old crowd, taught limits of your car in both wet and dry with class and driving (wet/dry skidpad, emergency braking, maneuvarability course, slalom, and emergency lane change.)

The lot that we were able to use and the limited number of cones minimized the course to a slalom down and a little bit of a zig back. If we had more cones and the corner was dry, then we could have made it more interesting. The cones were not stored where we were told they would be. TakJak2 setup the course. He definitely worked well with the minimum space/cones he had to work with! Top speed was probably only 25 for a second, but I think folks enjoyed it. Hearing some of the cars exhaust note was good for the spectators. We had a Ford GT40 and a Ferrari 360 (with a 430 exhaust with a dump valve that was set to "Very Loud" ;-) that made good use of the noise factor. Next year I may try to get more space for us to set up the course. Safety is a huge factor for the church, so we had to consider that when we were setting it up this year.

It was a fun little event. First time I've enter anything resembling a car show and nice to have something to show for it. High quality cars and people.

The autocross course was 7 cones total. I didn't leave first so top speed was under 41mph.

At Fedex on Sunday I picked up another 1st place magnetic trophy for my collection.

Doing what Henderson's car always does, Pinky - sits in a shop waiting to be fixed.
