He'll fit right in.

Hung out and BS-ed about cars for a good couple of hours. Took him for a spin in the Vette.

Did he show you his underwear?

Before or after the ride?

Never been in a Z06. Great fun. Would like to have one. I'd be dead in a week. Either from the car or my wife.

Ok, I know someone probably already asked this question but I have to asks before I spend the money on them. Are long tube headers illegal in VA? I'm stationed in NJ but drive my car through and to VA about once every 3-4 months so I still get the inspection when needed since I'm so close. I just don't want to spend all that money on a part of my exhaust just to hear I have to take it off...someone, anyone, please help with this question...

If you eliminate the cats, yes, it is illegal.

MightyBobo 07-27-2014 12:41 PM

To the letter of the law, anytime you even touch your OEM cats, it is illegal...

So I'm guessing the Berk HFC is also out of the question? Wish I would of known that before I spent the money on them. If anything, I might just change them out every time I need to get an inspection. Plus I'm not living in VA, so it shouldn't be that difficult...

Can you provide that text? Seems odd that it isn't based on performance based standards, not that strange things haven't happened.

You have to check the emissions restrictions in the area your car is registered in (your state/county). An out of district agency cannot enforce their restrictions on you if your car is registered out of state/county.

I live in Adams Co. PA which does not have emissions restrictions, so I had LTH's and drove through MD and VA pretty regularly and they can't do anything about it. Also had a radar detector too ;)

Edit: I got more complaints from the whiney mofo's driving behind me on cruises than I did from LEO's :bowrofl: :p

Easiest thing to do is to either go HFC's or RTPs, and save your stock cats. That way, if you do have to do inspections, or get popped, you just switch them back in and get checked. After you pass, swap them back.

I knew someone would ask. I'll have to find it again, it's in the Clean Air Act. I BELIEVE that anyone who ISN'T authorized to do service is not allowed to even touch the cats. I'll try to find it.

Any one here signed up for Z nationals yet? Any one plan on going? I'm already pre-registered and was wondering if anyone would be interested in leaving in a group? Maybe all get together for a meet before heading down? Thought it might be a good idea. Any one else think so? It's going to be an amazing time!

I know of this:

"As of January 1, 1988, all persons engaged in the business of automotive service and repair, as well as other parties named in section 203(a)(3) of the Clean Air Act*, are prohibited from installing or selling aftermarket catalytic converters which have not met the criteria of EPA's interim enforcement policy entitled 'Sale and Use of Aftermarket Catalytic Converters'* (published on August 5, 1986). The installation of non-complying converters by a named party will be considered a violation of section 203(a)(3) of the Clean Air Act, and the violator may be subject to a civil penalty of up to $25,000 for each improper installation."

But this doesn't get at what you were saying, so maybe there is something else.
