OK, but we are talking about the wheels and tires on the car RIGHT NOW.

Those are absolute junk, and that was my point. You were defending that these tires are actually great tires and the stretch is totally optimal. We never talked about running multiple sets of wheels/tires.

Regardless, I want to meet this owner, and I'm going to ask him what his best times were at Summit Point in THIS CAR, and I'll wager to guess he'll chuckle and say, "No, this is just for show man".

But, if you decide to rock some stretched tires like he's running, and then think you're going to hit the track like that, tell me how that goes at the tech inspection :tiphat:

Did I ever specify that I was talking 100% about those EXACT tires? :ugh2: Pretty sure I didn't. I also already said the tires were ****. I still say Stretch is good. The specs listed certainly are on the other side of "good stretch".

And no I wouldn't track on that stretch or those tires but thanks for the sweet tip bro.

You posted up a thread on some forum I'd never even heard of, posted by a fully stanced out VW. Right.

Also, a Scion FR-S forum by someone who was clueless, and the person who responded replied back with saying that the tire that'd fit a 7.5" wheel optimally COULD fit an 8" wheel. I can BUY that, because that's such a mild stretch, you could confuse it for OEM. But we arent talking a tire that's designed to fit a 9.5-10" wheel, stretched over a 12" wheel.

I'm trying to save you headache here, because if you truly intend to HPDE on stretched tires, it's not going to go well for you.

Ive already said that those tires were crap. All Im doing is defending stretch in general.

MyKindaGuise 03-17-2013 11:07 PM

I think I see our confusion. I said that "that GT3 is doing it right"

I didn't mean race spec stretch....I just meant that it was stretching right for style. my bad :/

Keep in mind there is a very fine line between proper stretch and over stretching. But that GT3 IS doing it right.
^--You said it, right there--^

I was talking about the Porsche in the photo, AS IT STANDS. When you say it's doing it right, I'm not going to assume it's any different than all of the information that we know right now, which is that he apparently gives no f-cks about grip on his show wheels. You cant defend a car based off of nothing more than it was made by some group called TeamElite - you need to say, "Oh, yeah, those tires blow ***! They have some super sick 18" wheels with Toyo R-Comps hidden for their time attacks!" Until then, it's a 650 HP Porsche (assuming he's even got it F/I now, considering in your own write-up back in September, he was still N/A) with crappy tires that have a contact patch smaller than the 370Z's sport package rears.

Changing a tire from the "optimal" for a wheel of one size isn't going to handle much different on a wheel that is a whole 0.5" wider. I wouldn't even define that as "stretched".

Alright, this makes more sense now :-p

CALL OFF THE TROOPS! CEASE FIRE! CEASE FIRE!

In that case, yes, the Porsche looks good.

No, I didn't think to take any interior photos.

Hey, I'm so glad that my photos stirred up the pot! LOL Then again, I'm sure some of us took some time to read up on the stretched tire topic a bit. This is definitely a part of the show car scene for several of the car groups that attended yesterday and all over. Large car club groups attended such as Team Elite Performance and they won for best participation by a club. Lee, the guy with the beastly Vette was part of that group which was all over my area, but when they saw me parking by them, Lee came over and said to me, "Nice Z car" and he mentioned the National G Club, some of whom I've met at other events. We shook hands and started BSing about cars, it was all good. When he started that thing and gave it the goose, holy crap was that thing loud! And the crowds started forming around it.

Anyhow, it was a good chance for me to meet some other car enthusiasts and spend some time seeing cars I'm not used to seeing much.

Also like I said. The car belongs to a very well known shop. Pretty sure they have a bit more experience than any of on here...

lol... all I have to say is... Drilled/slotted rotors are all around as well. its like the blind leading the blind with that one.

"JL Audio box with 2 10″ Speakers" - Nuff said.

"19×8.5 and 19×12 DPE CS5v1 wheels in Matte Black
225/35/19 and 265/35/19 Nankang NS-II Tires" -If you want to tell me that rocking 265's on 12" wheels is "good" stretch? C'mon.

"K&N Cold Air Intake" - This is a shop car?

This is a show car man. Nothing more, nothing less. It's not meant to actually go fast. It's meant to look cool.

and 265 on 12's? sweet mother. i have 275 on 10's and think its pushing it...

I don't really care how people want to modify their cars. It only has to please one person: themselves.

Life's too short to worry about who is doing what to their own car.

thats fine and all... but often times what results is the spread of misinformation... example: the entire ricer movement.

You can make a car look like a race car if you want... but while showboating it, if you make crap up or give people "advice"... thats what becomes annoying.
