Yeah I rolled the dice when I pulled the trigger on spacers but the end result is awesome. Looks great!

Yeah, man. The passenger side seal is completely busted, so it needs to be opened up and cleaned out, resealed, then polished. The driver side seal is good but just needs a polish (which I can do myself).

I'm just trying to determine if it would be worth it to attempt to DIY or pay someone to do it. I can get an OEM replacement for $400.

Damn dude, how does all that damage happen? What'd you hit?

Anyone have any insight on this message? I was a quart low on oil so I topped it off last night and now it's back. I've never seen this message before and while the oil isn't due for a change yet this has me concerned.

Usually means you've reached the mileage limit for the oil change. You should be able to reset it from the maintenance menu (it's on the same page where you reset the clock).

There is an internal maintenance timer. Likely, it expired, and it's like, "CHANGE MEH, BEOTCH"

If you dont actually need a change, just go in and reset it.

From a convenience aspect (It's my DD) it makes more sense for me to pay the $400 and then sell the old one as a fixerupper. It's probably worth $150-200 based on what I see them going for on Ebay with cracks in the housing.

If you're not looking for them to paint or install LEDs it will be stupidly cheap

Yeah you guys are both right, you can actually set it kinda like a timer.. 3000 miles, then alert me.. kinda deal.

4r3s 03-17-2013 02:00 PM

Yep it's just a trip meter. I've always used me nav systems reminders so I'm not sure what made this turn on now. Also looks to be a coincidence that I was a quart low but will have to keep an eye on it. 50k miles is to few miles to be burning oil like this and I'm not seeing any signs of leakage anywhere.

AAM did my last service for all the other fluids so maybe they turned it on.

My only concern at this point is down time.

Just get it done on a weekend..

m4a1mustang 03-17-2013 03:09 PM

Still not practical with the work I have to do to uninstall and reinstall. Doubt the work could all be done in two days with me having to run to MD to drop off and pick up.

eastwest2300 03-17-2013 03:25 PM

Ahh tough choices there bro, have the girlfriend help you out if she can.

m4a1mustang 03-17-2013 03:43 PM

Lol I don't think that would help matters in any way. From a logistics perspective I would need, at minimum, three days.
