Yes, I had a nice long chat with the better half (or was told) she doesn't want to trailer a car again. It's just tacks on a few more hours to a long trip as it is. And I really don't want to make a 10 hour trip in the Z32. I am confident it will get there, but my back won't be able to take it. So we'll be heading down in the Z34. I am excited to see the difference with the springs and sways this run.

No more photos of the trailering beast like last year :( That sh*t was hilarious, albeit scary as hell for you two :rofl2:

Let's just say I was exhausted just from driving that through the dragon, and my wife was white knuckled looking at the trailer from the rear view mirror. She was freaking out, which wasn't helping the situation.(more distracting than anything) That tested our marriage real quick. But hey, made it in one piece. Only had one tire hanging off the ledge.

Fire 03-19-2012 09:28 AM

Anothert reason cars are meant to be driven not trailered, eh?

I can't even begin to imagine how taxing those miles were. Either way, look forward to seeing the Red Z34 in a few months :excited:

Still, you gave me that cart ride in the dark. You can't put a price on that. Although cart rides in teh dark with shado are also known to test marriages :roflpuke2:

soo i'm thinking about heading to ZdayZ and wondering if its possible to join up with you guys and the caravan at a point along the way? i would be coming from pittsburgh and to drive out to VA then to NC would just be alot of extra driving. i can just go straight south and probably meet up with the group halfway on you route most likely.

There's a chance you might be able to link up with us somewhere on I-81.

We stop for an early lunch in Christiansburg, VA right off of I-81 so that might be a good place to try and plan it.

Why don't you go ahead and register for the cruise, then closer to the event we'll coordinate how we are going to try to link up.

My guess is it will probably work best if you try to meet us at the lunch location. It gives us the biggest time window to get together without interrupting the schedule. I'd probably just give you a call when we get onto 81 to see where you are relative to us.

FPenvy 03-20-2012 09:39 AM

that could work. im looking into places to stay that weekend for ZdayZ and once i get that sorted out i'll register for the cruise. don't want to jump the gun and register before i got a place to sleep lol

m4a1mustang 03-20-2012 09:40 AM

Sounds good, just let me know. I'm sure we'll be able to work something out if you can make it. Remember we are leaving a couple days early on the 15th.

FPenvy 03-20-2012 09:45 AM

that's my other hurdle is getting off of work lol

FuszNissan 03-20-2012 03:47 PM

I sense you are going to feel sick on the 15th...nazty flu season.

FPenvy 03-20-2012 03:51 PM

haha i just got over the "flu" last week when i went golfing on my birthday

OK guys, getting this thread back on track (since we're only a little over a month out now) I have finalized our route and all of our stops! Once I finish everything else I will pass around the official briefing/itinerary document to all of the caravan participants.

Some highlights for those of you that joined us last year:

- The first planned stop will again be the Mt Sydney rest area just south of 81, 125 miles into our journey.

- The second stop again will be at Cracker Barrel for an early lunch. We'll fuel up at the Shell across the street. This is about 114 miles after our rest area stop.

- Our third stop will be at the same Shell we stopped at last year just ahead of Johnson City, TN on I-26. This one is 143 miles after the previous stop. Depending on the size of the group there is a BP Station directly across the street to handle any overflow.

- Our fourth stop will not be at the Bryson City shell this year. Remember how crowded it was last year? This time we'll take the next exit and stop at the Exxon station. It's got a much larger parking lot, more pumps, and should not be as crowded. After we all fuel up I'm planning on taking us 2.5 miles up 19 to the same Ingle's Market grocery store we stopped at last year so we can pick up last minute items or perishable goods that we didn't want to haul down from NOVA.

After that it's only 30 miles to Fontana Village. We'll arrive on full tanks and should be good to go to drive in the morning!

I AM EXCITE.

m4a1mustang 03-27-2012 10:21 PM

Also, we've decided this year that if you are running TEST PIPES or LTHs you have to ride at the back of the pack.

Fire 03-27-2012 10:43 PM

I'm soo jelly. Hope everybody has a great time.:ugh2:
