Well water is more important than food LOL.

But I do may have a little reserve, but I'm not sharing details :nutswinger:

"Prepping" is a whole other thread/topic, but there are plenty of resources and YouTube LOL.

You should also check out a book/PDF download, called "LDS Preparedness Manual"

m4a1mustang 09-15-2011 07:01 PM

I'm not a "prepper" and I firmly believe 99% of the SHTF-talkers talk it WAY too far.

But that doesn't mean I won't be ready. ;)

I've been reading a lot on M4Carbine.net lately. Coupled with what I'm reading there and the great advice from Mac and the rest of you here I feel confident that I can source the right stuff to either put together or buy a complete reliable AR.

I just realized too that a number of guys from my local shop (Virginia Arms) are active on that site. I might swing by the shop and see what kind of deals they have before I order anything online...

MacCool 09-16-2011 08:40 PM

Out yesterday sighting in rifles. The three of us have a carbine course coming up in a couple of weeks. Finished up with a diversion...

Mac, I stopped by my local shop today (Virginia Arms) to check out what they had. Checked out some of the BCM uppers they had on hand and that sealed the deal for me. Full BCM build it is! I am going to order either the 16" 4150 CMV carbine upper or the 16" Cold Hammer Forged Mid-Length upper (the two that are in stock right now @ BCM that I am interested in) and buy a completed BCM lower from my shop when they get them back in stock.

Steve post up some pics of these parts you want to buy, so we can get some sorta idea of what this is gonna look like, come on dude!

m4a1mustang 09-17-2011 06:05 PM

Its just going to be a 16" carbine (or mid-length) with MOE furniture. Nothing special, just the best quality I can get.

$548... :ugh2: But very nice!

Red__Zed 09-17-2011 06:57 PM

ugh 1911's are my weakness. i would spend all my money on them if I hadn't cut myself off...

i just love how they look. they're more fun to tinker with too.

I wouldn't/don't use them as a carry weapon, but they're a lot of fun to play with, and the trigger feel is magical.

I like the trigger pull on 1911's better then traditional. Another plus is due to the weight of the gun ther is a good drop in recoil. Some people are iffy on the grip safety but I personally do not mind. 548$ is a no tax free ship price, I found a place selling the same for 507 but it would be more after tax & Shipping. The only stainless 1911 i know of around this price is a taurus that has a gold color trigger, slide release, & hammer and i refuse to buy it.

eastwest2300 09-17-2011 07:42 PM

I like the sub compacts, I wanna pick up some after market grips and some night sites, I think that would make the perfect Glock.

:yum:

For me, I prefer XD for carry, but I run a similar setup to what you are talking about. Love my night sites.
