2017 ZDayZ Caravan...

Who is driving down from the NOVA area on Sunday the 14th? Let me know if you are and if you want to roll with me. I'll start off from the old Fairfax starbucks/kohl's location, getting on the road around 6:15-6AM.

Those of you who have been in previous caravans... same stuff applies. Pretty chill ride down at a pace that shouldn't get us any unwanted attention.

Sscottfitz 04-23-2017 01:59 PM

Steve - O, so right now it looks like Deb may be taking the truck down with the convoy on Sunday morning, and I'll either be leaving later in the day or on Monday morning. I'm coming off a 3 day bass tourney on Lake Kerr (11-13 May), and probably won't get back home until later Sat afternoon. Since Deb and I have cabin 660 this year, she'd go down with the caravan group and get the party cabin opend up for business, and I MAY head down with Shahid on Monday morning - these are still "soft plans", but plans non the less........

Z Stig 04-24-2017 08:39 AM

I won't be on site until Wednesday. I will be in the caravan back on Sunday. I don't plan on needing Kathy to drive me back again this year..

Are we doing meal discussions this year? Or are we going to wing it a little more than in the past? I will not be available to cook a meal, but I will definitely contribute funds towards those that do!

Probably something we should figure out soonish. Though to do that we'd need an accurate headcount of who is going to be at MAZOC HQ each day of the week. I'm planning on bringing a big container (just 1 this year) of my mom's biryani down with me this year. We can have that as the main dish one night or have it as a side dish on multiple nights.

Sscottfitz 04-24-2017 03:23 PM

My gut feel is that we won't be as organized as we've been in the past, especially the first few days, but we usually don't have that many folks Sun-Tues anyway. I'll probably pick up a cheap grill, or just throw my webber in the back of the truck, we can get food in Bryson City OR Maryville if we need to.

Any idea how many people are planning for a Sunday morning departure? I know Steve & Dana are, and I think Deb will be with them in the Truck. Unless by some miracle I am recovered from my fishing trip, I"m still planning a later Sunday OR Monday morning departure.....

eastwest2300 04-24-2017 03:34 PM

I'll be missing the caravan, see you fellas thursday night for dinner..

So here's my rough estimate for the week, let me know if I'm missing anyone. Names listed are people arriving that day that I'm expecting to be present for dinner. Assuming all previously listed names will be present for dinner the rest of the week. Number in parentheses is the total number of people.

Sun (6): Steve T., Dana, Deb, Chris, Anicheh, Andy
Mon (9): Shahid, Talha, Steve F.
Tue (9)
Wed (11): Michael, Dave
Thu (13): Dee, Julie, Emily (Michael has other dinner plans)
Fri-Sat(?): ZDayZ dinners, not sure how many ppl will skip the official dinner.

Unknown: Aniceh, Dai/Daniella, other random MAZOC friends

eastwest2300 04-24-2017 08:23 PM

Hey blades, it'll be Julie and I. :)

Andy and I will be driving down Sunday, but not as part of the caravan (we're late risers and will be traveling on the dog's schedule). Sorry for the late notice - I started a new job Monday and had to make sure I could get the time off. We're game to make a group dinner any evening after Sunday. Not sure yet what it'll be, might be as humble as tuna casserole. I'm hoping to travel without bringing half the kitchen this year. :p

Look forward to seeing you all!

My new life philosophy is, outside of work, wing it.

Well that and YODO -- you only drink once. Have a beer with everything.

As long as you wear your Nemo costume it's all good :roflpuke2:

m4a1mustang 05-01-2017 07:21 AM

Steve, let us know if Deb wants to follow us, otherwise we're just going to skip Fairfax and head straight down.

aniceh 05-02-2017 05:12 AM

Are you stopping for lunch at Cracker Barrel?

(I looked for an emoticon that captured skepticism, with a hint of judgment, but was unsuccessful).

Probably not. It takes too much time.

eastwest2300 05-02-2017 08:52 PM

fellas, I just purchased a really nice dashcam, I should have it by this weekend...

370 ZZZ 05-03-2017 03:47 PM

Correct for me. I'll be down Wed afternoon from Knoxville. If anyone needs food, drink, cabin supplies, or anything else you forgot or used up already, let me know before mid-morning Wed and I'll pick it up. You guys ever think of setting up a kitty so some of us non-cookers could support a share of expenses? See you soon and safe travels!

That's very kind of you to think of, but none of us who cook are worried about people pitching in money. Everybody does their part - bringing drinks, or condiments, or paper products - and it all works out. We may yet hit you up for supplies on the way!

Late Sunday is probably a bad idea. Do it Monday morning and get to all the fun stuff in the daylight.

Depending on what "late Sunday" means, let me know. We plan on leaving "not early Sunday," and if our times coincide, we'd be happy to have you along!

b1adesofcha0s 05-06-2017 04:03 PM

Slight change of plans for me. I'll be coming down on Sunday morning with the caravan as usual.

Sscottfitz 05-07-2017 07:00 AM

m4a1mustang 05-08-2017 12:59 PM

So what is "later" on Sunday? Should we all just leave later?

m4a1mustang 05-09-2017 03:31 PM

I am now contemplating departing "later" on Sunday.

b1adesofcha0s 05-09-2017 05:55 PM

Define "later"

eastwest2300 05-09-2017 09:12 PM

You know I did realize that at some point, but I didn't know which day you guys were going to be there. I also stopped updating that list at some point :icon17:

exsanity 05-10-2017 11:55 AM

I'll be coming from home so, I won't make the caravan since we are farther west than you guys. Maybe we can meet in Knoxville if you guys come through that way, but it's no big deal.
