the ideal is connect with 802.11n, however, most of the built-in wifi receiver on the TV is very slow thus it cannot streams smoothly with the network.

it is my personal experience because I got an Sony smart TV last Christmas and streaming through wireless wifi is a no-go, eventually I have to connect the TV to the router with a cable then problem solved.

Check the spec of the TV and see if the wifi is 802.11n or higher
