District 9

Awesome flick. My favorite of the year is still Star Trek merely because Im a big fan of some of the series', but this is one of the most original movies Ive seen in a long time...

Very gritty, very badass.

I can't wait to see the movie. The girlfriend & I were going to go last night, but the last few movies we saw on opening night ended up being ruined by other losers with no respect for other people.

I'm hoping to see the film some time during the week.

Saw it last night, it was a great movie...The CG characters were flawlessly integrated into the movie. There were also so very unique sequences about the movie. Go see it and enjoy it.

a little campy as it followed a rather "old" storyline formula. I expect however the "District 10" sequel to be a bit more in-depth and serious. I also suspect that the human-alien hybrid guy is not going to get back to being human but rather the alien friend is going to transform the human-alien's wife into an alien form. The reason I say this is becasue the movie made it a point to demonstrate man's in-humanity to man through the lying, politics and ruthless interrogation....while juxtpositioning that against the alien character's seeming compassion, kindness and desire to preserve his alien race and come back and rescue the captive aliens.

The sequel I think will prove to be rather interesting in either making or breaking District 9 as an "alien" classic in the future....

Compassion, yeah that reminds me of when they ripped the arm off or bit the guy's head. I was thinking awesome.

BanningZ 08-16-2009 05:39 AM

This is the Original short film that spawned the movie.

You missed the fundamental premise of the entire movie....the overall underlying demeanor of the aliens was their desire to really want to just get back home and not bother the humans. The only reason they ended up at Earth in the first place for 28 years was because a fundamental component of their ship had broke and then was lost.

The cause of the aliens rioting was because they were all forcefully encamped into a small area...all 1.8 million of them. They were all living on-top of the other. That itself would cause their "urban" unrest.

The humans on the other hand were doing what they always do in in reality today...being greedy and controlling and taking pleasure from hurting others whether they were other people or aliens.
