It definitely takes some elbow grease, and I think I will be borrowing my buddy's porter cable RO to do larger areas (I know... many of you right now are saying "DUH!" ). I went at it with a Meguiar's Compound pad and their Rubbing Compound (for hand use only). I focused on a grouping of three specific water spots and a very light but several inches long scratch. I put down three applications, starting with very light pressure, then light pressure, then medium pressure. I either didn't use enough product or I was rubbing too much because it was pretty difficult to remove after each application - I'm chalking it up to lack of experience. When I was done with the Rubbing Compound, I moved over to the Polishing Compound (also for hand use only) and their polishing pad. I did one application of this before waxing. I am pleased with the results as I removed about 60% of the scratch and 80% of the water spots. I suspect a good DA will take care of them no problem. My main question is the best product to use. Does anyone know of a good resource that compares the different levels of abrasiveness in various products for paint correction?

Next, this morning I pushed in the clutch pedal to start the car and it seemed to be very light with a shorter than normal travel distance I didn't think too much of it, and wanted to see how it drove. However, I proceeded to nearly stall backing out of the garage and then did stall shifting into first For the record, I have only stalled this car twice previously (once within the first two weeks of purchase and most recently, last fall when I was on a very steep incline and not paying enough attention). So I pulled back into the driveway and checked a few things. The first thing I noticed is my clutch fluid is low. I will fill that up later today, but I'm worried that it's not the culprit (can anyone say CSC? I bet Alchemy can ). Are these symptoms likely a result of low clutch fluid? I've never had this particular problem any of my other MT cars.

Last and definitely least, I found out where a little plastic bolts goes that Melody found on the Z floorboard just a few weeks after purchase. I've had it sitting around without a clue as to where it goes. Well this morning when I was checking out the clutch pedal assembly, I noticed that there is a missing bolts for the dead pedal that holds it to the firewall. I didn't bother to reinstall it yet, but I will today or tomorrow
you had a busy day. but that clutch is how many miles do you have on your car? and do you track it?

good find on where that plastic bolt goes.

I got my wheel back on Tuesday.

It's much better now. Clearly the same color.

Looks a little darker, but maybe it's because it was clean and the others dirty.

I'm satisfied.

I'm about to hit 40K miles It's has been on the track once, yes. At the Nismo Performance Academy at COTA, I got two 3 lap sessions in it before the oil temps started getting near limp mode. I didn't need any more because I subsequently got to drive a stock 2013 Nismo 370Z and GT-R Track Edition for 6 laps each as well

I emailed RR Nissan (they're the ones I let replace my headliner and they did a satisfactory job) about some powertrain warranty questions. There are so many dealers that claim that parts of the clutch are covered under the bumper-to-bumper but not the powertrain, so I asked them what they had to say. I plan to bleed the clutch this weekend, so we'll see if that does anything.

hummm..40K is still young. but you drove pretty hard. i suppose it could be the CSC. i would just get the aftermarket unit and replace it for good if it turn out to be the CSC. might be a good time to swap clutch too since you track your car?

40K is nothing... I should be able to get 150K miles on the stock clutch using SRM. I usually drive easy (not necessarily slow, but I don't gun it everywhere) but when I do get on it, it's pretty hard with high revs and fast corners. The problem is I think the CSC has to be replaced every time the transmission is dropped - I cannot confirm whether this is true or not with the Z1 CSC. If that's the case and it's not covered under Nissan warranty, I can use my 3rd party 100K mile warranty and get a new clutch and new CSC for $500 deductible. If covered by Nissan, I'll just get their CSC (they won't replace the clutch under warranty) and then when it fails again, I'll have more miles and hopefully close enough to needing clutch replacement that I'll go ahead and do the aftermarket replacement. I don't plan on doing lots of tracking or anything. The Nismo Performance Academy was a fairly sudden opportunity, and I jumped on it. Worlds of thanks to Mr. Gurneyeagle for hooking me up with one of his friends as their guest

Well I know the engine starts pulling timing somewhere around 250F oil temps (not sure exactly where or how much), but full limp mode is like 300F and you can't rev past like 3500 RPMs or something.

CSC = clutch slave cylinder. A common failure in the manual Zs.

Package from Adam's arrived

2x Mystery Box orders netted me 16oz All-Purpose Cleaner (always a good thing to have - I only have a 4oz sample size bottle left), 16oz Carpet & Upholstery Cleaner (good for both car and house fabrics), some detailing swabs, and a roll of detailer masking tape. Pretty good haul for $20 IMO
