It can be dangerous. The Z is pretty bad right now... idk wtf... our last two cars were like this (both were previously my wife's DD :hrmm:). Although the Accord got so bad I replaced the rotors with quality aftermarket slotted rotors while my wife was still driving it and never had problems again. The Z seems to have gotten worse since about 20K miles, and I don't believe my braking habits are a contributing factor.

can you take a peek using a mirror tool and flash light? if you're down to about 3-4mm, i'd replace them anyways. :D

It's on my maintenance list for this year anyway. I don't know if the previous owner ever changed them and I'm at about 53k miles now.

:icon17: I know, I know... but I've always been very conscious about my braking. Especially if I have to brake hard, which I try to limit in the first place, I make a conscious effort not to hold the brake after I'm stopped if possible (only not possible in MT on a down slope).

Squealing a tiny bit lately. I've had vibration when braking but apparently I'm the only one who can feel it.

I'll test drive it for you when we do your lip  How's next Sunday?

sounds good. yah, at 50K miles sounds about due for new rotors. :)

usually i replace rotors after the pads wear out the 2nd time. i dont even get them turned after the first pads are done. i just swap the pads and re-use.

Yeah, sometimes I tend to hold it when I park and I'm getting out of the car. Don't know why. I need to stop that.

That's not necessarily bad, especially if your brakes aren't super hot from recent heavy braking.

kenchan 05-28-2013 03:35 PM

im not sure... ive never been that paranoid about my brakes unless im doing a fast downhill on tuna canyon or something where extreme hard braking is required. after moving from socal, ive not had one issue with overheating brakes.

ive not had any warping issues on my cars. no real special care either.
