Isn't Blizzard like that too with Starcraft II? You must log into Battle.net to play even single player? Why isn't that a big deal?

You can play offline, I think it is like Steam though.
Must open the game before going offline, make sure it is up to date, tagged to your steam account and then tell it to play in offline mode.

So say I lose internet connection or I am offshore I cannot play?

Yup. Your games are saved to the cloud and to a specific server, too. So if that server is busy... tough luck.

Been a big Sim City fan from it's inception. As great as it is, it was also frustrating because you never had enough of a high end PC to run it. I finally gave up on PC games always having to update them to run graphic intense games like Sim City. I now play console games but always wished they could make Sim City available for Xbox 360 and PS3. Even if they had to dumb it down a bit, it still would be great. I read and have seen some trailers of the new Sim City and it looks awesome. Unfortunately the last I heard was that they are refunding people's money to those who paid early for the release date as it has tons of issues. Seems these issues have plaqued this franchise forever. This post however is making want to play Sim City 4 though. Believe it or not, Sim City was first released in 1989.....yikes!
