Check out youtube, they have some great videos of the game play and new features.
Looks like they are really getting into the "online" era with the ability to link cities with others I believe and your city is also not just by itself. You have to bring in other people.

m4a1mustang 03-01-2013 08:38 AM

I pre-ordered so I'm anxiously waiting. It's good timing too since my future sister in law will be visiting next week. I'll be hiding in the basement building cities.

Mitco39 03-01-2013 08:42 AM

I just hope it will play on my laptop, I have pretty much got out of the computer world and been just using my xbox to game. Might have to pull out the old PC and see if I cant get it up and running.

Now im going to be watching SimCity videos at work today, thanks :shakes head:

haha

If anyone was thinking about this... SAVE YOUR MONEY.

Mitco39 03-06-2013 06:53 PM

No good? Glitchy? It looks good though. I guess its only torrent worthy? lol

EA ruined it with their DRM crap. You have to be connected to the server even for single player... trouble is the servers are always down or are buggy as hell.

IF you can actually play... it's a major let down. The game engine is cool but the cities themselves are FAR too small. You run out of space so easily... they needed to be at least 5x the size if not 10.

Of course EA will probably fix that with paid DLC. :shakes head:

jpritche 03-06-2013 07:52 PM

Yeah, I only got to play about 1 hour. It was alright, but like Steve said, you run out of room way to quickly. Supposedly they are offering refunds. I saw an article about it earlier, but don't feel like looking for it again :icon17:

m4a1mustang 03-06-2013 07:54 PM

I'll have to look into that.

The killer for me is the city size. Assuming they solve all the server problems the game likely would be good IF they increased the city size 5 or 10 times over.

jpritche 03-07-2013 07:07 AM

I agree. Not having to run power lines and water lines are so much better :icon17:

m4a1mustang 03-07-2013 07:54 AM

I'm tempted to try Cities XL

Mitco39 03-07-2013 08:45 AM

Never even heard of that one, although watching youtube vid's the graphics seem pretty good. Not sure about the rest however.

m4a1mustang 03-07-2013 08:46 AM

Its cheap enough on Steam that I wouldn't care much if I didn't end up liking it. $79.99 for Sim City on the other hand is really, really annoying. F*ck EA!

Let's never forget this post.

Mitco39 03-11-2013 10:47 AM

Been reading up on this SimCity disaster this morning, it sucks because I was really hoping for it to be awesome.

m4a1mustang 03-11-2013 10:50 AM

Unfortunately EA has suspended refunds (too many requests) so I'm stuck with it.

Mitco39 03-11-2013 10:53 AM

How did you pay for it? I read alot of people are just disputing the purchase on their credit cards.

m4a1mustang 03-11-2013 11:04 AM

Ordered via Origin. I could do that, but it earns you a lifetime Origin ban. And I like to play BF3 now and again.

Wait...they are banning people if they do a charge back?
Oh man that is going to piss people off even more!

m4a1mustang 03-11-2013 11:07 AM

I have a feeling there might be a lawsuit in the works with how bad EA is handling this.

saber 03-11-2013 11:09 AM

Go EA  what a bunch of money-stealing wipes.

My hard-earned money went towards Tomb Raider instead, and so far it's been a blast :p

Mitco39 03-11-2013 11:13 AM

Ill just wait for someone to create a crack to allow offline play. That really sucks you cant get your $$ back.

theDreamer 03-11-2013 11:14 AM

So is there no offline way to play?
So say I lose internet connection or I am offshore I cannot play?

Then as of right now your SOL.

saber 03-11-2013 11:23 AM

Isn't Blizzard like that too with Starcraft II? You must log into Battle.net to play even single player? Why isn't that a big deal?

You can play offline, I think it is like Steam though.
Must open the game before going offline, make sure it is up to date, tagged to your steam account and then tell it to play in offline mode.

Yup. Your games are saved to the cloud and to a specific server, too. So if that server is busy... tough luck.

Been a big Sim City fan from it's inception. As great as it is, it was also frustrating because you never had enough of a high end PC to run it. I finally gave up on PC games always having to update them to run graphic intense games like Sim City. I now play console games but always wished they could make Sim City available for Xbox 360 and PS3. Even if they had to dumb it down a bit, it still would be great. I read and have seen some trailers of the new Sim City and it looks awesome. Unfortunately the last I heard was that they are refunding people's money to those who paid early for the release date as it has tons of issues. Seems these issues have plaqued this franchise forever. This post however is making want to play Sim City 4 though. Believe it or not, Sim City was first released in 1989.....yikes!
