Been lurking here for a while but got my Z on Jan 1. Did my first oil change on Sunday from factory to Mobil 1 5w-20 at 3500 miles (late, I know..). Planning on doing a homebrew oil cooler and DIY similar to ModShack but with braided lines, but have noticed a sharp, consistent rise in my oil temp since the change.

Before the change I would run at 200F all day, maybe up to 210-215 when pushing it hard. Now on the full synthetic I'm consistently running around 210, getting up to 220-225 under higher revs.

I'm not super concerned since I plan on adding a cooler in the next month or so but wanted to make sure I'm not missing something major here - or if any of you have experience with this after the first change.

Oil levels are good, haven't seen or smelled any burn-off, everything else seems to be copacetic - any ideas/advice or am I just being overbearing?

I'm always at about 200 after a trip down 45 to work. After a full day of driving its about 220. You'll be fine.

So a lot of this just happened. Luckily I had her garaged, the 350 might not fair well though. Checking in the am since storms are still coming through.

So we were just awoken by a huge hailstorm that rolled in suddenly. The Acura and our roof are fvcked :(

The Z is perfectly safe  :happydance: (sorry for anyone's whose isn't - I know there are a few Z owners in my neighborhood that don't use their garage...)

Here are a couple shots from the front door, which I could barely open cause the wind was blowing so hard. :ugh2:

Front door drifts of smaller pieces of hail (most are ~1" in diameter)

Another front yard shot - it covered the street in a layer of hail pretty damn quick.

:hello: those look smaller that what we got :ugh2:

I ran outside with blankets for the Acura while it was hailing (I was wearing protection :icon17:). I could see in the glare from the street light that it was too late and immediately turned around and went back inside. There's no PDR for it... panel replacement all the way.

It sounded like it was about to break our double pane windows for a second. I was going to post a warning in the Austin thread but I assumed everyone knew about the warning. :/ Sorry James.
Wondering if the 350 has enough damage to be totaled somehow.

I'm going back to bed and cancelling physical therapy. Consider this my good morning post. :|

:hello: Morning JAR & Pint sucks to hear about the storm you guys got :ugh2:

At least both of your Z's are safe

Holy Jeez! Sorry to hear about the vehicle damage Pint and JAR.

Tracie, I seriously doubt they'll total the 350. They'll "see what they can do to get you back in your vehicle". :shakes head: They didn't total my Mazda when a tree was dropped on it by a tornado. He said "they can amazing things with cars head days". :(

happytheman 03-20-2013 06:33 AM

Oh, good morning Z crew! :)

There were warnings? lol I had no idea :ugh2:

I just looked at the forecast, and there doesn't appear to be any more intense weather projected. Safe to drive the Z today I hope since it's time to go to work...
