Totally serious.
I remember seeing a thread about it a while back, but I've been living in "it won't happen to me" land on what may be borrowed time for much too long.
That will have to be the first thing I address when my car is resurrected on Easter.
So what's best? Pull the fuse? Get a module? Cut the black... no, I mean the red... no, the orange wire?

There is no best. I listed your options and costs a page or two earlier. I went with the plug and play harness, Alcheng tried to pulling the fuse, Mr.Kenchan bought a new SLU...
|
I honestly think the fuse the best solution hands down (with the harness being virtually equal except that it costs $$). Thanks to Mr. Alcheng, we know that the fuse isn't there in later model Z without a SLU. This tells me there was nothing else on that circuit, and you are perfectly safe removing the fuse without affecting anything else :twocents:

What banking hosts this for you (or are you using some other online bill pay methodology)? Our credit union hosts one that I thought was perfect.

Our credit union has an incredible bill pay system (it's a small fee or minimum balance in checking). Each bill is automatic once you set it up to be. If you have a dispute, you just bring it to their attention and they'll deposit the disputed amount back into your account (whether it is the entire bill or just a portion) and then go to bat for you with whatever company. It is awesome!!

I've never swapped mine. I have no problems driving the Z smooth - it is not difficult in traffic (especially with SRM on). My buddy's cobra had a linear clutch that would give your left leg an incredible workout in traffic. Is there a significant reason to swap springs?

Absolutely, but the other point is that if that happens you blame the driver, not the short throw shifter

yah, most folks buy short throws to cut down on the shift throw time which usually means they are jamming the syncro's to work harder...thus wearing them out faster.
if one's just shifting normally (just to enjoy the shorter throw) it makes no difference in the wear. :)
for me, i just buy a shorter weighted knob to shorten the stroke. not the same as a real short throw, but it's still shorter throw. :icon17:
|
I like a short throw in general... I already drive the Z pretty hard for a DD. The STS won't change when or how hard, but it will make it more enjoyable when I do push her
