I am so sorry blackcherry20!
Had I known that I was gonna be convinced that I needed a full frame camera two weeks ago, you know I would have wanted you to have my stuff.
Yup, Canon battery grip.
Just the 28-135 3.5-5.6 IS USM. It's an okay lens. It's been collecting dust on my desk. I put it on the camera to sweeten the deal and make it attractive to someone who didn't already have lenses.

If the deal doesn't happen on Sunday, I'll let y'all know.

Good morning sir, and to all the sleepy heads out there! :hello:

Looks like my Z time for the weekend includes a thorough detaling and a cruise on Sunday where...................ready for this.........................it's really big news....................I mean REALLY BIG NEWS.....................make that EARTH SHATTERING NEWS.......................................mrs. gurney MAY take the wheel of the Z for the first time.

Maybe.

Yes, you heard it here first. :icon17:

In all my OCD glory, I have thoroughly managed to intimidate the woman that has never been intimidated in her life. After a string of nice cars, including an RX-7, a Supra, an Integra, and an Acura CL Type-S, mrs. gurney slipped into Mommy transportation mode with a series of child-cargo vehicles, and has ended-up today with a 2012 CR-V.

She has refused to drive the Z, and has rarely even ridden in it. We'll see if I can get her behind the wheel this weekend. I will keep you all posted.

Have a great weekend all, and safe travel back home to the family mr. onzedge. I sincerely hope you can make it down to Houston one day so that mrs. gurney and I can show you some displaced Louisiana hospitality and cooking. :tiphat:

Question for you guys with all-knowing computer skillZ:
My computer recently installed a Windows update (I have 7 Ultimate with SP2) and one of my external hard drives is no longer a "My Book", but shows up as a "Local Disk" that I can't access without formatting it.
Is there a way around this? I don't want to reformat it and lose all the data that's on there. It worked just fine last night.
I've read some articles about this problem online, but I'm not getting the gist of what's being said on the various forums.

I ken haz help pleez?

Isamu 02-15-2013 08:17 AM

so as some of you may know, I am leaving again here soon... and that means I will have about a year where I won't be able to drive my car... :( but that just means big things are coming

Did you try to unplug it from the usb port and re-plug it in? if you have an that didn't work, try and revert to the previous version of windows via system recovery/windows backup. once you revert, back up all those files, and then proceed to re-upgrade to SP2

have you tried to download the drivers for the specific model of the HDD from the manufacturers website?

or, take your HDD to a friend, back up the data, and then reformat?

Unfortunately, external hard drives are notorious for failing like this. From your following posts, it looks like you have tried most all of the easy fixes.

( Click to show/hide )
Assuming the hard drive has failed, there are a couple of possibilities and both will require removing the drive from the external enclosure. If you are able to plug the hard drive into a desktop computer and the drive is recognized in the BIOS, you have a good chance of being able to recover the data with recovery software - generally not cheap unless you torrent and may take a long time depending on the amount of data and how bad the drive is compromised. If you are able to recover the data, it is likely you can reformat and reuse the drive, though it may have bad sectors or other problems that make it a poor choice for storing any critical data. If the drive is not recognized in the BIOS, then you're likely looking at an expensive data recovery solution by a specialty company (last time we used one it was mission critical data and a weekend emergency and cost just shy of $5K)

I usually don't need the hammer until I am removing the hard drive from the external enclosure. And duct tape only if I put the drive back together :icon17:
