We had a big group from Houston travel over together, and we got to meet up with some friends from Dallas too. I was lucky enough to get picked to do a parade lap of the track with some of the Z's that made the trip.

I can't express how nice the facility and its staff are. ABSOLUTELY FIRST CLASS. COTA is the nicest racing facilty I have ever been to.

I'll post some pictures today. Here's some of the Doran team who had a big shunt on Thursday and managed to get the car back on the track. At one point, they were seriously considering pulling parts off of our cars in the parking lot, but were able to source what they needed.

All-in-all a fantastic time with great friends.

 :excited: :happydance: thanks Gurney!!! I was hoping to see some pics of the Doran Team! Looks like BJ had some trouble eh? How did they finish?

Doran Z started dead last because they missed qualifying on Friday. They worked their way up to 15th when a water line let go. They got that fixed, Tim got in the car and ran back up into the field, but they were laps down by then. Not sure where they ended up.

B.J. and Tim were super nice and even came up in the stands to watch the Grand Am race with the Z crew. Great weekend!

All of that for a $59 ticket!

Here you go with an early shot; we eventually ended-up with over 60 cars in the lot.

Oh BTW - I was third in line behind a Boss 302 and an F-150 when a wild pig decided to run out into traffic on I-10 going home. Heavy damage to the Mustang, mess to clean off and from under my car. Can't believe the bumper wasn't damaged, but there wasn't much left of Porky by the time it was my turn.

Ok, I can't get to Nissan to get coolant. Should I use a product from an auto store in the meantime?

Yup and he filled it a tad above the min line. Today I see no presence of it in the reservoir.

Ms. Pint -- can you smell coolant? Is there any on the ground?

Only slightly, occasionally, when I open the hood and there isn't any on the ground. There's a leak somewhere. Thinking of buying the Z1 hoses for the upcoming swap.

If it really is leaking -- you should not ignore it. It could be as simple as a loose clamp. Look around all connections to see if you can spot the leak source.

I've looked but can't really see anything. If it's not a leak, what else could it be?

If it is not a leak, coolant can be lost due to a blown head gasket or cracked block or head. I doubt it is one of these issues though. It is likely a leak and you just have not found it yet. I think you are safe using non-Nissan coolant for a few days, but I would flush it all out and replace it with OEM once you fix the problem.

What are symptoms of the others? :/

If you have a blown head gasket, the coolant usually finds its way into the engine oil. It will make the oil look milky/frothy. This is what usually happens.

Cracked block/head is a little more difficult to ascertain.

You should get your Z to a place that can get it up on a lift and find where the leak is. Unless you have overheated your car, it is not very likely it is something different than just a leak or busted hose. A buddy with a 2009 had the upper radiator hose go bad at about 35,000 miles.
