So, in case anyone is wondering "Where in the world is LunaZ?", I'm back in Harrisburg as of yesterday around dinner time.

I was facing a second day of hanging out in Toronto... I don't really consider it "stranded" or "stuck" since it's a cosmopolitan city with cool things to do and see and great places to eat. Although the $60 each way cab ride between the airport hotel and the city made me cringe a little.
Flights into St. John's kept getting cancelled because of the weather there and it wasn't even certain that my Sunday morning flight would happen.

Just when I was talking with my people to figure out how to cram a two day programme into one, I get a text from the beauty supply distributor saying that the roof of the building at their learning centre is leaking profusely and nearing collapse from all the snow, rain and ice they've been having. The programme will need to be cancelled and rescheduled.

I get on the phone with Air Canada and tell them I need to go home. The guy on the phone says, "Get to the airport right now, there's a flight to Harrisburg leaving in two hours. You'll just make it through customs and security. I'll call the ticket counter to let them know you're coming."
He was super helpful and stayed on the phone with me until I got to the ticket counter to make sure everything was cool.

I leave my meal vouchers and whatever CAD dollars I had left on the table hoping it was enough to cover the steak and eggs, Guinness and Jameson I was having for breakfast and bust through the front door of the hotel with my luggage and jump into a cab. Which, by the way, was almost $20 for something like 3 miles.

I actually made it through customs and security with enough time to stop at the Molson Pub in Terminal 1 to enjoy another boring Canadian beer. Sorry, guys!

As soon as I got to MDT, I drove straight to Hershey, where I enjoyed a good craft beer and some pork belly at Tröegs Brewery. Nugget Nectar... Ahhhh!

Anyway, I'm back home now with a few days off.
I'm a little bored and really bummed out I didn't make it to Newfoundland (AGAIN!) but at least I'm getting paid

 i wondered "where in the world is LunaZ" sounds like a very helpful AirCanada guy!!! Very nice to hear:tup: as we all know air travel can be challenging

Hey LunaZ, how'd you get that shot you posted yesterday on FB of your plane's cockpit? Did you just snap it really quick as you boarded?

I was flying on this:

http://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphoto...49664022_o.jpg

It's a Beechcraft Beech 1900D.
It's small and fast, like the sports car of commuter planes.
There's only 18 seats and the pilots don't have or don't pull the curtain.

I took this shot while were taxiing:

http://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphoto...21835409_n.jpg

Yeah, yeah, I didn't turn my cell phone off when I was instructed to.
I've flown in helicopters with my cell phone on and plugged into the cockpit's communications system. I'm still here :tiphat:

What was really wild was watching how much the little plane pitched around from the crosswinds coming into YYZ.
Being able to see the lines on the runway swinging from left to right as we approached really puts a different perspective on things!

I like the small planes. As I returned from Japan my last leg was on one of those. Had a bad storm and a military pilot was in front of me sweating bullets. I told him that planes moved all over in storms  :icon23:

They disproved that as being problematic on Mythbusters which, as you know, is the definitive proof we all need! :rofl2:

I think they've rated that one as one of the 10 most difficult airports to fly in on.

The only real problem with leaving your phone on (and not in "Airplane Mode") is that the battery drains quickly as the phone hunts for a signal.

I tried to, but the difference in lighting between the dark cabin and the snow blinding brightness outside played tricks on my camera as you can see in the above pic. Oh well.

Attended the Grand Am race at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin on Friday and Saturday. It was an unbelievable time thanks to the incredible work of Chris Coronado aka GURU on the forum.

We had a big group from Houston travel over together, and we got to meet up with some friends from Dallas too. I was lucky enough to get picked to do a parade lap of the track with some of the Z's that made the trip.

I can't express how nice the facility and its staff are. ABSOLUTELY FIRST CLASS. COTA is the nicest racing facilty I have ever been to.

I'll post some pictures today. Here's some of the Doran team who had a big shunt on Thursday and managed to get the car back on the track. At one point, they were seriously considering pulling parts off of our cars in the parking lot, but were able to source what they needed.

All-in-all a fantastic time with great friends.
