Default insurance claim question (hidden damage) *Update*

so back in september of 08 I was involved in a motorcycle accident (not my fault) and laid the bike down at about 15mph. State farm repaired my bike at a cost of 2,800 and paid me an injury settlement of quite a bit more. Now I have not really ridden the bike much since then mostly because I got the Z. A couple of weeks ago I rode the bike and noticed high engine temps. Thinking it was the thermo cooling switch I replaced it. No luck. Fan still wasnt coming on. Then I got down and tried to spin the fan with my fingers and found it was wedged against the radiator. Metro motorsports should have easily noticed that since there were scrapes on the side of the radiator cover. The bike is a suzuki sv1000s and was semi naked at the time. frame sliders too brunt of the impact. what are my options. I spoke to my father and he said repair shops do supplemental claims for hidden damage all the time but i really have no experience with it.

All you have to do is contact your insurance company, or have the shop contact them for you. They'll re open the claim, and you should be able to get it fixed in no time. Im an estimator for a body shop. We have to do things like this every so often. It shouldn't be any big deal at all.

Default update

So, three weeks ago i dropped my motorcycle off at metro motorsports for the supplemental claim work that they missed when they originally fixed the bike. Told me it was going to be no problem. Today, three weeks later, I called them to find out where the hell my motorcycle was. said they still have not gotten a response from the insurance company but made contact today and should have an answer by tomorrow. so my dad, who likes to talk, called them up to find out what their major malfunction is. was told this..

-I should have noticed the fan wasnt working the first time i rode the bike. (I picked it up in the winter, never got warm enough.

-The engine runs hot so the fan should be on almost the hole time. i should have noticed it. (no, it doesnt. I didnt discover it wasnt working till the first 100+ day i rode it, and then it only got hot standing in traffic. at speed it was normal. i dont look at the fan while ridding.)

-I could have hit a pot hole and that could have damaged the fan. (...wow, really... you just said that?)

-I could have damaged it myself in another accident. (If it was my fault I would have no problem fixing it.)

-They only warranty their work for 90days. (the problem is they are negligent and never did the work in the first place. Ive only put 400 miles on the bike since i got it back. 90% of that was at night and in the winter. first hot day, was when i discovered the problem)

So, if i dont hear from them tomorrow im going to call the insurance company myself to find out what is going on. either way im calling the better business bureau. I dont know what im going to do from there. there is no mechanic lein law in az so they cant claim storage fees when it was their own retardedness that is causeing the problems. I might just fix it myself and seek legal action. who knows.

any thoughts??

Do exactly that. Call the insurance company your self if the shop isn't helping. This really should not be a big deal at all. The shop should be working for you not the insurance company. I know for any repair we've missed 100% of them were covered.
