Got one~~ (Speeding Ticket)

First speeding ticket with the Z @ 1549 miles. Looks like me and the Z are getting along just fine.

It did cost me my sway bars $$$ tho...hahahah

shadoquad 09-06-2012 05:34 PM

Sorry to hear that, Red.

:rofl2: @ "cost me sways" :D Gotta respect the mod budget.

LakeShow 09-06-2012 05:38 PM

What was the damage?

MarkGideon 09-06-2012 05:41 PM

That did not take long! I am only 2400 miles in and none yet, but I am trying to be extra careful. I assume this thing will get attention quicker than when I am cruising in my Altima.

binary0x01 09-06-2012 05:41 PM

More reason for me to get a radar detector, I gotta do step on the gas and get it.

Masa 09-06-2012 05:49 PM

I'm @ 12,500 and so far no tickets.

Been pulled over at least 6 times though, luckily all warnings.

I knocked on wood for you.

Lets see... since October 2011: 1 speeding ticket, 1 red light violation, and 2 fix-it tickets for tint & missing front license plate.

shadoquad 09-06-2012 07:28 PM

2 tickets for me, and I'm half-expecting to be mailed a speeding camera ticket from about a week ago :rofl2:

But at least the speeding camera one only carries a fine and won't effect my insurance.

B&W_Evader 09-06-2012 07:34 PM

Sorry to here it. They haven't caught up to me yet. ;)

Actually drive what must be the most heavily patrolled hwy in the bay area. Get her up to 69 and hit the cruise control when traffic allows. Good gas milage and no tickets.

Makes for a boring ride home though.

w0rM 09-06-2012 07:42 PM

Sucks...

I got one a month after I bought my 350z (first one in 20 years). That was over 3 years ago and none since - knock on wood. I'm pretty careful and when and where I push it.

I had more tickets in the old lady SUV then the Z. :shakes head:

DR_ 09-06-2012 08:45 PM

I like to think they are just a tax for me driving fast.

JungleZ 09-06-2012 08:46 PM

I'm scared when i get my F1 exhaust how many popos are gonna pull me over for that crap. I'm already sketchy with the tint and no front plate. The good thing is the Z looks hard as fukk and not some rice rocket.

tonythetiger 09-06-2012 11:25 PM

u should get a escort passport 9500ix

I'll be getting one of these soon. My Escort Passport 8500 is old now. Time for an upgrade. It's been wonderful though.

Mitco39 09-07-2012 09:05 AM

I Love my 9500IX, however I have noticed that having it down low (in the car) as opposed to up high in my truck has a HUGE difference in the sensitivity for it to pick up the bands. I might look into the 9500CI next spring. I have had atleast 5 saves since I bought this detector over 2 years ago, easily paid for itself. The only thing you have to find out is if cops in your area like to use Lidar, in which case its not going to help you one bit, and infact will give you a false sense of security.

Footloose301 09-07-2012 09:12 AM

I have 2 years in the Z and 39k on the odometer and never been pulled over...

damn_Zexy 09-07-2012 09:19 AM

I've gotten 4 in the past 3 months :shakes head:

I hope you continue being spared today. Have fun and good luck.

edub370 09-07-2012 09:30 AM

got pulled over 3 times in the first 6 months i owned the car, but never ticketed.

one time i got pulled when me and my roommate in his sti were out crusin:

Cop: you know why i pulled u over

Me: i actually have no idea

Cop: i heard you and the subaru getting on it right in front of me. looked like u were going 10 over easily

Me: i know i wasn't speeding. u clock me at 10 over?

Cop: well no i didn't get a chance to, but i was pacing u at 10 over. also your tires crossed the double yellow back there

Me: where at?

Cop: back where the road splits to allow a turn lane

Me: (Verbally) i dont think i did that. (internally) ARE YOU F'ING KIDDING ME!!!

Cop: well i'll let u off with a warning

Me: (verbally) thank u. (internally) a warning for what!? i didnt do anything!!

the ONE TIME i actually wasn't speeding or doing anything....i know he wants to see who's driving what in a small town, but he was stretching it with that one

USMCASA 09-07-2012 09:32 AM

mhcoss 09-07-2012 09:56 AM

I have been driving for 11 years with no speeding tickets. 5 months of Z ownership and I got my first one ever. Was an automatic radar camera in an intersection. :( perfect driving record gone.

Ha I own the same couple of cars, except my Z is an 11. I got a ticket in my altima and one in my Z. Shyt happens.

Deferred adjudication will avoid the points & record :ugh2:

Automatic Radar Camera???? What facist state you live in?

Read T 09-07-2012 10:34 AM

I've been driving for 11 years and have had all sportscars or sport-coupes and have yet to get a ticket. Just drive the speed limit on public streets and leave early if you're worried about being late.

Now on the track is another story

Maryland has speeding cams, although it's a purely financial penalty, won't reach your driving record.

But they're still making money hand-over-fist from the people. Part of how they sold it was on safety, so they say they'll put it in school zones and road construction zones.

In the years since they've passed the bill, empty road construction areas with no one working, or even unnecessary/redundant construction areas, have popped up all over the place to justify their cameras. If you drive the beltways or major interstates, you will see construction zones probably once every 30 miles or so?

Maryland, land of the human ATM machines.

See this is why I was kind of eager to leave the facism of NY and the surrounding states. (except PA). It's like the crash test dummy for a Miltarist facist rule in america. Texas is doing it too but in baby steps. The north has an onslaught of civil and bill of rights violations by state and local govt's.

Rant over back OT

Haboob 09-07-2012 10:57 AM

Our governor actually signed a bill to get rid of the ones on our freeways.

It's so nice now. They were actually causing more issues than they were fixing, on top of them costing more than they were making (I think they said that more than 70% or so weren't paying the tickets).

There are still red-light cameras, which I guess I'm okay with - except that they do speed too, which is dumb.

Though, there's a law that states that drivers must be warned a certain distance ahead of the camera and one of our cities puts no signs out that their mobile unit is ahead... I'm waiting for the day I get one and I can go to court and win.

cptspeed 09-07-2012 11:10 AM

I try to drive the limit, but have found out that this car cannot drive a constant thirty five. Never got caught exceeding the 70 limit.

I got one after my first speeding ticket. Should have gotten it before.
But it didn't stop me from getting my red light violation! Turns out I needed a map upgrade...

Rone 09-07-2012 11:37 AM

I've never been pulled over. My lead-footed wife, on the other hand, has been puled over three times in two years; getting one ticket and two warning.

I live in Alberta canada. Unfortunately these types of machines are becoming more and more common. They had em in Texas too when I lived there last year

V1 will actually give you the best Lidar protection you can find in a radar detector. I have had all types of radar detectors and can tell you from experience that the V1 has saved my *** many times even with Laser.

The thing with laser is as soon as it goes off on your detector they have your speed. The only thing its telling you is they got your speed when it goes off. Its instant, no amount of breaking will save you.
