I see your point too. But when you have these gun free zones. This is where the mental morons like to go to. :shakes head:

Technically, when I go into a place that has a sign that bans 'concealed weapons', my knife is a violation. Sorry, but in today's climate, I'm going nowhere unarmed.

I'm all for Constitutional Carry (no license, open or concealed) and think, in most cases, Gun Free Zones are a bad idea. But I am also a firm believer that a Man's home (and by extension, place of business) is His castle. My right to keep and bear arms doesn't trump your right to determine what happens in your castle. If I don't like the way you run your castle, I can go elsewhere. My desire to be in your castle, instead of one 100 miles away, has no bearing on the matter. YMMV

There is a bar/restaurant in Rifle Co. that the waitresses pack hog legs.

Here's the type of signs I like.

I can't argue with your reasoning.

Speaking for myself, I feel I have an obligation to provide to anyone in my castle some level of safety and protection.

SouthArk370Z 03-21-2016 09:24 AM

I'm curious as to why some of you feel the need to carry all/most the time. I'm a Constitutional Carry kind of guy but I have seldom felt the need to carry in public. If I think some place is dangerous enough that I would need to carry, I don't go there.

I realize some may have jobs or other activities that would make full-time protection necessary, so I'm not asking y'all. :) This is aimed at Joe/Jane Average who frequently carries. Not trying to start an argument - carry if you want to, I say - just curious.

I carry all the time. The only exceptions are when going somewhere it isn't allowed or if I'll be drinking, in both cases carrying would be illegal.

I carry all the time to remove the question of premeditated from the equation.

I would prefer to sit on a stand and tell a jury I carry all the time instead of telling them I hardly carry and just felt it was necessary on 'that' day.

Also you never know when something might happen. I'd rather be covered than to have my friends and family visit me at the cemetery.

BoneZ 03-21-2016 09:37 AM

I carry all the time for the same reason I have insurance all the time.

SouthArk370Z 03-21-2016 09:54 AM

Thanks for the replies. I either live in a lot safer place than you guys* or I'm oblivious to the danger.

*This could be due, in part, to the fact that a lot of people in my area DO carry. ;)

Anyone here into firearms?

I live in Houston and you can go from million dollar houses to the projects in a matter of a mile or two.

I was in Houston for some job training back in the 1990s. Didn't get to see much of the city but I do remember hearing "The Overnight Murder Report" on one of the radio stations when driving to breakfast. IIRC, there were about six murders announced each morning. Sorry to hear that things are still bad. :(

Call me a Hillbilly, Yokel, Redneck, whatever - I like living in a small, rural town. :driving:

When there's five million people. Six isn't a large number.
