For my 1911, undercut trigger guard, 30 LPI front strap checkering and flatten and serrate slide top. For my PX4 I'm getting it refinished in NP3 Plus.

 when are you getting them back so we can hit the range

i think im going to do my first mods on the gun this week. i have to mod the slide stop because the plunger is a bit long and i have to use a too to push it in when reinstalling the stop.
and i think im going to be a little ghetto and paint dots on my sights because is hard to see

Not for another few weeks, there's never a definite time frame when custom work is involved. I’ll let you know so we can bust a few caps.

xdeslitx 02-26-2012 09:32 PM

i feel like such a newb...i was shooting really low and i thought it was my fault
so i ask the guy next to me for pointers

the guy looks at my target and i had about a 1 inch grouping at 7 yards

turns out my adjustable rear sights weren't calibrated from the factory
so i have to zero it in the next time i go since i ran out of bullets
wasted so much ammo thinking i was shooting wrong the whole time

Lol. I'd like to tell you that it happens to all of us, but I can't. Oh well, live and learn! Good work on the grouping though. Like at least the guy didn't say "uh yeah it's your sucky skills." :)

Last weekend I visited my sister's family in Knoxville and treated my nephew to a shooting session a the local shooting range. I have been thinking about getting a 1911 here in the next year, so we rented a Kimber Ultra Carry II. Of course the gun is of high quality, light has a great feel. I have to give props to my nephew for being quite the marksman and I was quite impressed how safely he handled a handgun.

With that being said, relative to shooting my H&Ks I am a terrible shot with a 1911! Partially this is due to the more squarish trigger and the short barrel. Oh well, I guess I definitely have to purchase one now :)

Nice 1911 xdeslitx...I am sure you are very pleased with your purchase!

thanks. im very happy with it...just need to make a few minor modifications like painting dots on the sights (black on black is no good i cant see anything)
hopefully this will go well. it will be a little tough because both my sights are serrated and there no cup indentation for the dots

Well if worse comes to worse I am sure that there are tons of affordable, good quality replacement sights for it to be had on the interweb...The beauty of owning a 1911!

A couple new firearms related items

After a bit of a wait, my Glock 19 Gen 4 came in finally. The Concealed Handgun permit only took about 45 days to obtain. I am psyched about both. Next purchase; a Comp-Tac IWB holster for my P2000K (thanks for the recommendation Steve).

well here's my little project for the day. i hope it holds up. it didn't feel like actual paint. it had a rubbery texture as it was drying
it's not perfect but at least i can see the sights now lol

What about drilling small holes into the sights before painting to give it a cleaner look? This is just me thinking, I'm a little OCD tho.

i don't trust myself with drilling my sights.
the way it is right now it is still reversible...if i drill there's no going back. and i don't have clamps and stuff to keep the gun still while im drilling
eventually i'll shell out money for aftermarket sights

X, All you need to change is your front sight. Go to dawsonprecison.com and look for their fiber optic front sight specific to your gun. Even without those dots on the rear (sorry), you'll be able to easily acquire them. You can PM me and I'll give you info on a good gunsmith in the SFV. Probably $40 to install the front sight. Kinda pricey bec it's a dovetail fit.
