One of our dogs, Daisy, has advanced lymphoma and has been getting worse and worse each day. She can no longer eat or walk and it's time for her to go so that her suffering can end. My wife Kate (Mrs. Dr. Dr. onzedge) and one of her vet friends are going to euthanize and the cremate her today over at the UC Davis Veterinary Hospital and then we are burying her ashes in the backyard.

So long to a good friend and a dog that taught me that dogs, even little barky ones, are OK after all.

This is an awful day. I know your loss and experience so well, I've never had another dog. I can't do it again.

I'm sad just thinking about your loss, and my old buddy.

Man, I'm sorry Mr. OnZedge, I've been there too and I know how you feel. Time heals all hurts.

I know what you're going through. We had to put down my mom's lab a few months back. He was, for me, the dog that set the standard for all other labs.

Thank you all, my friends, for the kind words. I was never a dog person really, until Kate and I got together in 2007 and then married in 2008. I brought 2 sons, z-cars and coolness to the relationship and she brought dogs and scientist nerdiness (and great love).

I grew attached to Daisy and she to me. She was a troubled rescue dog, but I have always been attracted to the underdog and the outliers. Over time she came out of her shell and became "My Dog". I was owned by her and she never was more than a few feet away from me when I was home.

I am friggin crying as I write this -- so thank you all again. Every one of you is special to me and we have never even met.

OK -- enough of that. Back to waiting on my background check results which should be today or tomorrow (latest).

Have a great day!!!

Hey Gale! absolutely will be taking some pics....I have it on the agenda...there is a really cool old state park on the route: Fort Hill State Memorial. It was some kind of indian fort/earth works and there are parts of it still left on the top of a very large high hill that you can hike. Has a really cool stone shelter house and old oak trees....this time of year very beautiful back there. :woot:

Afternoon drive home for a respite and some lunch. In and out of rain with rear tires that probably need replacing soon. Alas... VDC on for safety :ugh2:

On the doggy note, I love them and have almost always had one. I plan to pretty much always have a dog in my life. They all have their place in my heart no matter the breed or personality. Our current miniature schnauzer was my wife's idea and my first small dog (I was never fond of small dogs prior), and she is just as amazing as all my other dogs. Also, I was never a cat person until my wife brought one to the relationship. His name is literally Fvcker (sp), and he is one. But he's also really awesome in his own way and has found a way into my heart as well. I know it will be a difficult day to lose either one of them.

Working on almost 13K miles, so they're not too terrible. I know they're more than 3/32 but I need to get a more precise gauge cause racecar

I should have them replaced by the end of the year :icon17:
