The next time someone asks or complains about sound deadening in the Z, point them to this. Check out the noise of the rocks hitting the wheelwells around the 3:16

Did someone complain that there was too much outside noise in the Z? Seriously?

This has been an ongoing dilemma on the forum for some out there. I posted a full thread on sound dampening (mostly for car audio) but it would work great for road noise as well.

Put sticky tires like NT555Rs on any car and you'll get that. Period. It doesn't matter what you're driving. When you run sticky race tires, they pick up bigger and heavier road debris and fling it at your wheel wells.

My last car was REALLY quite inside until I put drag radials on them. Just driving between 15 and 20 MPH I could hear rocks getting shot up into the wells and it was annoying at first but I got used to it.

I also noticed the terrible gravel noise in that video. Made me feel a little better.

Put really sticky race tires on like Hoosier R6 or Kumho V710's and you'll find those rocks melted into your tread They get rubbery soft after a session and will pick up every pebble you drive over.

At least then you don't have to hear them birdshotting the wheelwell.

I have, and so have a lot of others. Perhaps you don't live in a place that has a lot of crap on the roads. A few pounds of sound deadening in each wheel well would have gone a long way.
